  1. 1. PET in Heart Failure - Methods and Applications

    Författare :Jens Sörensen; Göran Hedenstierna; Elisabeth Ståhle; Bengt Långström; Juhani Knuuti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; congestive heart failure; myocardial ischemia; positron emission tomography; left ventricular dysfunction; tracer kinetic models; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) permits regional myocardial perfusion, fibrosis and oxidative metabolism to be non-invasively quantified with radioactive tracers such as [15O]-water and [1-11C]-acetate. PET is an established research tool in congestive heart failure (CHF), a major cause of morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Visualization of Peripheral Pain Generating Processes and Inflammation in Musculoskeletal Tissue using [11C]-D-deprenyl PET

    Författare :Mikko Aarnio; Torsten Gordh; Jens Sörensen; Magnus Peterson; Lars Ståhle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ankle injuries; arthritis; binding site; binding target; carbon-11; deprenyl; high-throughput screening; inflammation; monoamine oxi-dase; pain; PET; whiplash; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : An objective visualization and quantification of pain-generating processes in the periphery would alter pain diagnosis and represent an important paradigm shift in pain research. Positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand [11C]-D-deprenyl has shown an elevated uptake in painful inflammatory arthritis and whiplash-associated disorder. LÄS MER

  3. 3. HER2-receptor quantification in breast cancer patients by imaging with ABY-025 Affibody and PET

    Författare :Ali Alhuseinalkhudhur; Henrik Lindman; Jens Sörensen; Mark Lubberink; Irina Velikyan; Rimma Axelsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET; Breast cancer; HER2; Affibody; ABY-025; Molecular imaging; Kinetic modelling; Brain metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. Human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) is overexpressed in up to 20% of breast cancer cases and is considered an important prognostic factor and a therapeutic target. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A Generator Perspective on Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Författare :Fredrik Bülow; Hans Bernhoff; Jens Sørensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VAWT; PM generator; Wind power; Stator core loss;

    Sammanfattning : The wind energy conversion system considered in this thesis is based on a vertical axis wind turbine with a cable wound direct drive PM generator. Diode rectifiers are used to connect several such units to a single DC-bus and a single inverter controls the power flow from the DC-bus to a utility grid. LÄS MER

  5. 5. 11C Molecular Imaging in Focal Epilepsy

    Författare :Torsten Danfors; Eva Kumlien; Jens Sörensen; Elisabeth Ronne-Engström; Juha Rinne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; positron emission tomography; methionine; NK1; substance p; flumazenil; deprenyl; pk11195; phosphoimager; autoradiography; TBI; traumatic brain injury; iron chloride; ferrous chloride; Neurology; Neurologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Epilepsy is a common neurological disease affecting 6 million people in Europe. Early prevention and accurate diagnosis and treatment are of importance to obtain seizure freedom. In this thesis new applications of carbon-11-labelled tracers in PET and autoradiographic studies were explored in focal epilepsy. LÄS MER
