Sammanfattning : Aims: The general aim was to study self-reported health and its determinants in immigrants from the FSU in Sweden. Study I: to analyze (i) whether there is an association between being born in the FSU and other countries of the former Soviet Bloc and poor self-reported general health among immigrants in Sweden and (ii) whether this association persists after adjusting for demographic, socioeconomic, and migration-related variables. 3. Historiemedvetande och identitet : Om historiens närvaro i några estniska ungdomars liv
Sammanfattning : The issues that I deal with in this study arose as a result of a specific event in the Estonian capital Tallinn in the spring of 2007, when authorities removed from the city center the Soviet monument which shows a Soviet soldier during World War II. When the monument was moved to the war cemetery in another part of Tallinn, anger and frustration quickly spread among the Russian-speaking population and less than one day after the move Tallinn's streets filled with young Russian-speaking protesters. Sammanfattning : In questions concerning ethnicity and cultural identity in prehistory, there is a great divide between the conclusions maintained on a theoretical level of discussion and the interpretations given to material remains, when these theories are practiced on the archaeological material. Inherited scientific and political structures, usage and ideas contribute to our understanding of ethnicity and the everyday use of the concept, and influence archaeological interpretations. LÄS MER
