  1. 1. Explaining temporal variations in soil respiration rates and delta13C in coniferous forest ecosystems

    Författare :Daniel Comstedt; Alf Ekblad; Rolf Siegwolf; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Autotrophic; Boreal forest; Elevated CO2; 13C; Natural abundance of stable isotopes; Picea abies; PLS; Root respiration; Soil respiration; Biology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Soils of Northern Hemisphere forests contain a large part of the global terrestrial carbon (C) pool. Even small changes in this pool can have large impact on atmospheric [CO2] and the global climate. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Achieving carbon isotope mass balance in northern forest soils, soil respiration and fungi

    Författare :Björn Boström; Alf Ekblad; Phil Ineson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 13C; Carbon cycle; Ectomycorrhizal fungi; Forest soil; Microbial respiration; Soil respiration; Stable isotopes; Biology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Northern forests contain a large part of the global terrestrial carbon pool and it is unclear whether they will be sinks or sources for atmospheric carbon if the climate warms as predicted. Stable isotope techniques provide unique tools to study the carbon cycle at different scales but the interpretation of the isotope data is impaired by our inability to close the carbon isotope mass balance of ecosystems. 3. 3. Impact of root and mycorrhizal exudation on soil carbon fluxes : influence of elevated CO2 and metals

    Författare :Emma M. Johansson; Patrick van Hees; Bert Allard; Phil Ineson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amino acids; 13C; carbon cycle; ectomycorrhiza; elevated CO2; exudation; DOC; LMWOA; metal stress; monosaccharides; oxalate; Pinus sylvestris; saprotrophic fungi; soil respiration; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns the behavior of root and ectomycorrhizal (ECM) exudates. In particular, the dynamics of soluble low molecular weight (LMW) organic compounds such as organic acids (LMWOAs), amino acids, monosaccharides, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) have been studied. 4. 4. Priming of carbon and nitrogen mineralization in forest soils

    Författare :Saeed Alaei; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Soil organic matter; C:N imbalance; root exudates; priming; Extracellular enzymes; Soil organic matter; C:N imbalance; root exudates; priming; Extracellular enzymes;

    Sammanfattning : Decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM) contributes significantly to the global carbon (C) cycle and climate feedbacks. SOM decomposition depends on soil microbial activities, and these activities are driven by the availability of C and other nutrients. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Bioelectronic Devices for Targeted Drug Delivery and Monitoring of Microbial Electrogenesis

    Författare :Arghyamalya Roy; Daniel T Simon; Klas Tybrandt; Christopher Proctor; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Despite a range of pain therapies available in the market, 70% of patients report so-called “breakthrough pain”. Coupled with global issues like opioid crisis, there is a clear need for advanced therapies and technologies for pain management. LÄS MER
