Sammanfattning : The narrative discourse of Juan Benet is commonly described as an enigmatic, ambiguous and hermetic discourse that cannot be interpreted in an unequivocal way. The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the effect of such a discourse upon the reader by studying the literary code of the author and the interaction that such a code requieres of a 'model reader' (according to Umberto Eco, a reader who takes notice of the poetics underlying Benet's narrative discourse) in order to reach a meaning.
