  1. 1. Investigations of Proneural Glioblastoma to Identify Novel Therapeutic Targets

    Författare :Maria Boije; Lene Uhrbom; Bengt Westermark; Rolf Bjerkvig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Glioma; proneural subtype; hallmarks; glioma initiating cells; S-SOX5; angiogenesis; stromal cells; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; Experimentell patologi; Experimental Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant glioma is a highly lethal and destructive disease with no proper cure. We have investigated some of the hallmarks of cancer in connection to glioma and found ways to disrupt these and prevent tumor growth. The work is done within the context of a glioma subtype distinguished by activation of PDGF signaling termed the proneural subtype. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigations of Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain-proteins 1 and 2 (LRIG1 and LRIG2) and their genes in cancer

    Författare :Mahmood Faraz; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Rolf Bjerkvig; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LRIG1; LRIG2; PDGFR; glioma; interactome; breast cancer; prognosis; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The mammalian leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) gene family consists of three different members, LRIG1, LRIG2, and LRIG3. These genes are expressed in all human and mouse tissues analyzed to date. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular Regulation of Vascular Abnormalization and Its Role in Glioma

    Författare :Lei Zhang; Anna Dimberg; Rolf Bjerkvig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; vasculature; pleiotrophin; PTN; CD93; angiogenesis; GL261; RCAS;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma, grade IV glioma, is the one of the deadliest cancers, with a median survival of only 12-15 months despite aggressive treatment including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. One hallmark of glioblastoma is the morphological and functional abnormalization of tumor blood vessels. LÄS MER
