1. Robotic Surgery for Endometrial Cancer
Sammanfattning : Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecological malignancy. A large proportion of patients present with the risk factors high age and obesity, which puts them at increased risk when undergoing surgery. LÄS MER
2. On Quality Improvement in Gynaecological Cancer Surgery
Sammanfattning : Objectives: The overall purpose of this thesis was to find medical and surgical treatment methods of improving the perioperative care of gynaecological cancer patients. The specific objectives were to determine whether a single dose tranexamic acid given immediately before surgery for presumed advanced ovarian cancer reduces perioperative blood loss and the need for blood transfusions, and to determine whether postoperative recovery, tissue damage, and inflammatory response markers differ between women operated with robotic and abdominal hysterectomy for low-risk endometrial cancer in an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programme, and to evaluate costs for hospital stay and postoperative recovery in relation to health impact. 3. Computer-assisted surgery in children
Sammanfattning : Although positive in terms of patient trauma and recovery time, minimally invasive surgery has several technical drawbacks compared with open surgery. The new da Vinci® Surgical System from Intuitive Surgical® offers technical innovations aiming at overcoming these drawbacks and at improving the surgeon’s operating skills, such as the improved 3-D vision, tremor reduction and flexible instruments with a more natural and intuitive range of motion. 4. Enhanced Recovery After Hysterectomy
Sammanfattning : Objectives: To study recovery after hysterectomy under Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) care, and in relation to different operation techniques.Materials and Methods: An observational study was conducted comparing 85 patients undergoing hysterectomy with ERAS care to 120 patients immediately before establishing ERAS. 5. Robot-assisted laparoscopy for benign uterine disease. Feasibility, outcome and hospital cost
Sammanfattning : The introduction of the laparoscope was a milestone within gynecologic surgery. Despite evidence of better perioperative outcome compared to laparotomy, laparoscopy is mostly performed for less advanced surgical procedures and the uptake of laparoscopic hysterectomy has been slow.
