  1. 1. A multi-objective evolutionary approach to simulation-based optimisation of real-world problems

    Författare :Anna Syberfeldt; Philip Moore; Robert I. John; Amos Ng; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :Evolutionary algorithms; simulation-based optimisation; multi-objective optimisation; noise; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknik; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a novel evolutionary optimisation algorithm that can improve the quality of solutions in simulation-based optimisation.Simulation-based optimisation is the process of finding optimal parameter settings without explicitly examining each possible configuration of settings. 2. 2. Non-digestible Polysaccharides and Intestinal Barrier Function : specific focus on its efficacy in elderly and patients with Crohn’s disease

    Författare :John-Peter Ganda Mall; Robert Jan Brummer; Ida Schoultz; Åsa Keita; Mikael Wirén; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Non-digestible polysachharides; beta-glucan; arabinoxylan; barrier function; permeability; Ussing chamber; elderly; Crohn’s disease;

    Sammanfattning : A large number of elderly suffer from gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms such as constipation and diarrhoea. The underlying mechanisms of age-acquired GI symptoms are not well studied but are necessary to clarify in order to recommend the right treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Living moments in family meetings : A process study in the family business context

    Författare :Jenny Helin; Leif Melin; Leona Achtenhagen; Robert Chia; John Shotter; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; process; Bakhtin; meeting; dialogue; conversations; family business; collaborative; qualitative; process organization studies; Business studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation studies meetings from a process perspective. Such an approach, which can be labelled ‘process organisation studies’ is promising in that it directs attention to social processes continuously in the making. The thesis builds on the current development in process organisation studies in two ways. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Rock damage caused by underground excavation and meteorite impacts

    Författare :Ann Bäckström; Robert Zimmerman; John A Hudson; Flavio Lanaro; Pekka Särkkä; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Excavation Damage Zone EDZ ; Fracture analysis; Pre-existing fractures; Class II behaviour; 3D laser scanning; Impact fracturing; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The intent of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the origin of fractures in rock. The man-made fracturing from engineering activities in crystalline rock as well as the fracturing induced by the natural process of meteorite impacts is studied by means of various characterization methods. 5. 5. Med kränkningen som måttstock : om planerade bemötanden av främlingsfientliga uttryck i gymnasieskolan

    Författare :Emma Arneback; Tomas Englund; Carsten Ljunggren; Robert Thornberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; moral education; upper secondary school; equal treatment; Taguieff; Dewey. philosophy of education; xenophobia; racism; violation.; Education; Pedagogik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to map and analyse planned responses to expressions of racism in upper secondary schools. Three questions are in focus: (1) What courses of action, in response to expressions of racism, are advocated in philosophical texts and equal treatment plans for upper secondary schools? (2) What consequences have these courses of action for the formation of the mission of schools, the responsibility of teachers, and the limits of free speech? (3) What kinds of expressions of racism are these courses of action intended to be a response to? The study takes its point of departure in two theoretical traditions: Pierre-André Taguieff’s categorisations of racism are used to define the problem in the dissertation, while John Dewey’s moral philosophy provides the methodological base.
