  1. 1. Contribution of stormwater ponds for road runoff to aquatic biodiversity

    Författare :Zhenhua Sun; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; road salt; stormwater ponds; water quality; sediments; road runoff; metals; pond size; aquatic biodiversity;

    Sammanfattning : The increased recognition that roads may impair the aquatic environment and ecosystems has led to a shift from conventional drainage systems toward blue-green solutions such as stormwater ponds. Research on blue-green stormwater solutions has until now mainly focused on water quantity and quality. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Colloidal Organic Pollutants in Road Runoff: Sources, Emissions and Effective Treatment Technologies

    Författare :Anna Markiewicz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic pollutants; nanoparticles; stormwater; sorption filters; road dust; emulsions; washwater; vehicle wash; road runoff; microparticles; sweepsand; colloids; street sweeping;

    Sammanfattning : Thousands of organic substances circulate in our society and are diffusely emitted through traffic, combustion and leaching from constructions and building materials into the urban environment. The research in this PhD thesis focuses on road runoff as the highest concentrations of pollutants are frequently found in runoff from areas with high traffic intensity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Road runoff quality in cold climates

    Författare :Camilla Westerlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of the doctoral thesis was to investigate the complex processes and influencing factors affecting snowmelt-induced runoff and snowmelt quality in a cold climate under wintry conditions compared to non- winter conditions in areas with a warmer climate. In order to improve the understanding and knowledge of road-runoff quantity, quality and pollutant transport, snowmelt and rainfall runoff were studied and characterized in the laboratory and in the field, respectively. 4. 4. Road structures under climate and land use change : Bridging the gap between science and application

    Författare :Zahra Kalantari; Folkeson Lennart; Nachtnebel Hans-Peter; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Adaptation; extreme rainfall events; runoff; land use; climate change; flood hazard; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur;

    Sammanfattning : Future changes in climate and land use are likely to affect catchment hydrological responses and consequently influence the amount of runoff reaching roads. Blockages and damage to under-dimensioned infrastructure can be extremely costly for the regions affected. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Coagulation process characteristics and pollutant removal from urban runoff

    Författare :Fredrik Nyström; Inga Herrmann; Annelie Hedström; Maria Viklander; Michael Cimbritz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stormwater; urban snowmelt; road runoff; coagulation flocculation sedimentation; coagulation characteristics; coagulation mechanism; treatment efficiency; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Sammanfattning : Many different stormwater control measures (SCMs) can be implemented in order to mitigate issues with polluted stormwater flows into receiving water bodies.  The treatment function of  SCMs is commonly based on the removal of particles by sedimentation, thereby also removing pollutants associated with particles.
