  1. 6. Towards an efficient use of infrastructure and the built environment : Essays in transport and housing economics

    Författare :Lina Jonsson; Fastighetsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Hedonic pricing; Noise; Railway traffic; Road traffic; Congestion pricing; Acceptability; Road user charging; Political Economy; Railway; Marginal cost; Accident probability; Level crossings; Housing Economics; Property tax;

    Sammanfattning : All four papers in the thesis share a common theme: how to achieve an efficient use of infrastructure and the built environment. In the presence of externalities, pricing according to the (short-run) marginal cost is one answer on how this can be achieved and the first two papers estimates parts of the marginal cost of traffic. 2. 7. Contact stiffness in tyre/road noise modelling and speed dependencies of tyre/road noise generation mechanisms

    Författare :Julia Winroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tyre road noise; Air-pumping; Tyre road contact stiffness; Speed exponent analysis; Tyre road contact modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Tools for simulating tyre/road noise are highly valuable in the efforts to limit the negative consequences of road traffic noise.A numerical tyre/road noise simulation tool was in this study used to investigate how the contact stiffness parameter affects the predicted tyre/road noise. 3. 8. AURALIZATION, PERCEPTION AND DETECTION OF TYRE–ROAD NOISE

    Författare :Alice Hoffmann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Perception; Psychoacoustics; Rolling Noise; Traffic Detection; Reaction Time; Auralization; Tyre Road Noise;

    Sammanfattning : Due to improvements in combustion engines and electric engines for cars, tyre noise has become the prominent noise source at low and medium speeds. Models exist that simulate the noise produced by a rolling tyre, as do models that auralize specific traffic situations from a basic data set. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Road Traffic Noise - Factors modifying its relation to annoyance and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Theo Bodin; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Road Traffic Noise; Annoyance; Myocardial Infarction; Hypertension; Sleep;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic noise causes annoyance and sleep disturbance and has been linked with several other adverse effects on life quality and health, including increased risk of hypertension and myocardial infarction. Conservative estimates assume that at least one million healthy life years are lost every year from traffic related noise in the western part of Europe. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Internalization of External Effects in Swedish Transport Policy - A Comparison Between Road and Rail Traffic

    Författare :Lars Hansson; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Commercial and industrial economics; rail traffic; road traffic; transport policy; internalization; External effects; pricing-relevant costs; Industriell ekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : Transport is a key factor for economic growth. It has enabled both the economic scale of production and an increase in competition. No one can question this role of transportation. There is, however, a back-side to the coin: the environmental challenge. LÄS MER
