  1. 1. Pregnancy in Ro/SSA positive women

    Författare :Joanna Tingström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Sammanfattning : Congenital heart block (CHB) may develop in the fetus during pregnancy in Ro/SSA positive women. It is a rare but life-threatening disease and the most serious manifestation of neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE). The frequency of CHB in Ro/SSA autoantibody positive pregnancy is 1-2%, with a recurrence rate of 12-17%. LÄS MER

  2. 2. RNA-protein complexes as autoantigens : cell and molecular biology of Ro/SSA and disease associations of anti-Ro/SSA antibodies

    Författare :Nader Pourmand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Ro SSA; Ro 52kD; Ro 60kD; p40phox; Ig classes; systemic lupus erythematosus; Sjögren s syndrome; autoantibodies; immunoblotting;

    Sammanfattning : Autoantibodies to the Ro/SSA and La/SSB antigens are present in sera from patients with Sjögren's syndrome (SS) and systemic ]opus erythematosus (SLE). The Ro/SSA autoantigen consists of a 52kD and a 60kD protein, complexed with one of four small RNAs. The La protein can also associate with the complex. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus and immunoreactivity in patients with Ro/SSA autoantibodies

    Författare :Karin Popovic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Cutaneous lupus erythematosus; Ro SSA autoantibodies; incidence; prevalence; photosensitivity; autoimmunity; HMGBI; Ro52;

    Sammanfattning : Lupus crythematosus (LE) is a heterogenous autoimmune disorder with many different clinical presentations. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is subdivided into acute, subacute and chronic CLE. Population-based epidemiologic studies of CLE are lacking arid the pathogenesis is not fully understood. 4. 4. Autoantibodies and the Type I Interferon System in the Etiopathogenesis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Författare :Stina Blomberg; Johan Frostegård; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Systemic lupus erythematosus; type I interferon; interferon inducer; dendritic cell; natural interferon-alpha producing cell; immune complex; SSA Ro; dsDNA; BDCA; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In sera remitted for anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) analysis, the supplement of a sensitive anti-SSA/Ro ELISA to the conventional ANA screening by immunofluorescence (IF) revealed that one fourth of the individuals with IF-ANA negative, but SSA/Ro ELISA positive sera, had systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or cutaneous LE. Consequently, adding a sensitive anti-SSA/Ro ELISA to the ANA screening is valuable for the serological detection of ANA negative SLE/LE patients. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Endogenous Type I Interferon Inducers in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases

    Författare :Tanja Lövgren; Lars Rönnblom; Gunnar Alm; Maija-Leena Eloranta; Andrej Tarkowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; Systemic lupus erythematosus; Sjögren s syndrome; type I interferon; plasmacytoid dendritic cell; natural interferon-producing cell; immune complex; RNP; Ro SSA; La SSB; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have elevated levels of interferon (IFN)-α in blood and IFN-α-producing cells in tissues. In the present thesis, we investigate the mechanisms behind the upregulated IFN-α-production in SLE and also show that the IFN-α system is activated in primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS), with IFN-α-producing cells in the major affected organ, the salivary glands.
