1. Rhodothermus marinus: a cell factory : Exploring products and cultivation technology
Sammanfattning : The unsustainable human impact on ecology and ensuing climate change necessitates the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The largest contributing industrial sector is the chemical industry, due to its petrochemical dependency. LÄS MER
2. Novel Retaining Glycoside Hydrolases : Potential candidates for transglycosylation and hydrolysis
Sammanfattning : Our society is moving towards renewable resources, where biomass, rich incarbohydrates, is producing chemicals and fuel. However, there are severallimitations when it comes to valorisation of the carbohydrates from renewablebiomass. LÄS MER
3. Glycoside hydrolases from Rhodothermus marinus Modular organisation and structure-function relationships
Sammanfattning : The thermophilic bacterium Rhodothermus marinus produces several thermostable glycoside hydrolases. The studies presented in this thesis were performed on two enzymes, belonging to glycoside hydrolase families 10 and 12, produced by this microorganism. The family 10 xylanase, Xyn10A, is modular in architecture consisting of five domains or modules. LÄS MER
4. Xylan degradation by the thermophilic bacterium Rhodothermus marinus. Characterization and function of a thermostable xylanase
Sammanfattning : A gene encoding a multidomain xylanase from the thermophilic bacterium Rhodothermus marinus has been cloned, sequenced and produced in Escherichia coli . The gene product was found to be a 109 kDa protein consisting of five domains. LÄS MER
5. RECOMBINANT PEROXIDASES AND XYLANASES: I. Cloning and production of a peroxidase from horseradish II. Characterisation of functional domains of thermostable xylanases from Rhodothermus marinus
Sammanfattning : Part I: Plant peroxidases are useful in many areas of application e.g. as tracer enzymes for clinical applications and in biosensors as well as for industrial purposes like in waste water treatment and bleaching processes. A gene encoding a new, neutral horseradish peroxidase isoenzyme, HRP-n, was isolated. LÄS MER
