1. Studies of two Yersinia proteins: YopJ, an inhibitor of inflammatory responses, and YpkA, a RhoA/Rac-binding kinase
Sammanfattning : Eukaryotic cells possess sensitive systems for the detection of microbes and microbial-derived products. Bacteria-eukaryotic cells contact triggers several signaling pathways, most of which are dependent on protein-protein interactions followed by phosphorylation, leading to activation of defense mechanisms. 2. Podocyte Melanocortin 1 Receptor Mediated Signaling : A potential new target for patients with kidney diseases
Sammanfattning : Treatment of patients with nephrotic syndrome (NS) is currently unspecific and directed at ameliorating the symptoms rather than eliminating the cause. NS is actually a multitude of glomerular diseases characterized by poorly understood disease mechanisms and symptoms that include proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and edema. LÄS MER
3. MicroRNA-Mediated Migration of Colon Cancer Cells
Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cancer in women and third most common cancer in men worldwide. The cause of the majority of death related to CRC is believed to be the migration of cancer cells to distant organs which is known as cancer metastasis. LÄS MER
4. Cardioprotective mechanisms by inhibition of the HMG-CoA reductase pathway and stimulation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors in myocardial ischaemia-reperfusion
Sammanfattning : Acute myocardial ischaemia causes metabolic changes and results in a rapid decrease in the energy available to the cell. This leads to cell injury that, depending on the length of the ischaemic time, is reversible or irreversible. LÄS MER
5. The role of PKC in neuronal differentiation and in regulation of the actin cytoskeleton during neurite outgrowth
Sammanfattning : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases subgrouped into classical (α, βI, βII, γ), novel (δ, ε, η, θ) and atypical (ζ, ι/λ) isoforms. PKC can be activated by phorbol esters, and prolonged treatment of neuroblastoma cells has been shown to induce neuronal differentiation with neurite outgrowth and increased expression of neuronal genes.
