1. The role of PKC in neuronal differentiation and in regulation of the actin cytoskeleton during neurite outgrowth
Sammanfattning : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases subgrouped into classical (α, βI, βII, γ), novel (δ, ε, η, θ) and atypical (ζ, ι/λ) isoforms. PKC can be activated by phorbol esters, and prolonged treatment of neuroblastoma cells has been shown to induce neuronal differentiation with neurite outgrowth and increased expression of neuronal genes. 2. Defining the Role of GGTase-I in the Development of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : RHO family proteins control cell movement and intracellular signaling by cycling between active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound states. Aberrant signaling of RHO GTPases has been implicated in many diseases including cancer and inflammation. LÄS MER
3. Cytoskeletal Regulation During Embryonic Development in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : The development of multicellular organisms is associated with extensive rearrangements of cells and tissues. The driving force for these rearrangements is generated by the cell's actin cytoskeleton. During many morphogenetic processes dynamic rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton is regulated by small GTPases of the Rho-family. LÄS MER
4. The role of RhoD in actin dynamics, receptor trafficking and cancer cell migration
Sammanfattning : The Ras subfamily of Rho GTPases plays an important role in myriads of cell processes, such as actin cytoskeleton dynamics, membrane trafficking and cell migration. Additionally, they also participate in diverse signal transduction pathways that regulate gene transcription, cell survival and cell growth. LÄS MER
5. ß2 integrin-induced signal transduction events in human neutrophils
Sammanfattning : Inflammation is a localized protective response in vascularized tissues and can be induced by microbial infection or cell and tissue injury. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) are the most common white blood cells and are recognized as major cellular mediators of acute inflammation. LÄS MER
