  2. 2. Megalin, an Endocytotic Receptor with Signalling Potential

    Författare :Mårten Larsson; Lars Rask; Bo Åkerström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Megalin; LRP-2; Postsynaptic density-95; Retinol-binding protein; Oligodendrocytes; Central nervous system; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Megalin is an endocytotic receptor belonging to the low-density lipoprotein family. It has often been viewed only as merely a scavenger receptor of absorptive and secretory epithelia. Recent work has revealed that the megalin intracellular domain contains several motifs potentially binding proteins involved in signal transduction. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of prolactin on metabolism - changes induced by hyperprolactinemia

    Författare :Louise Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :prolactin; prolactin receptor; hyperprolactinemia; adipose tissue; lipoprotein lipase; malonyl-CoA; glucose transporter 4; retinol-binding protein 4; adiponectin; lipid oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : High prolactin levels during breast-feeding, is recognized to influence metabolism in order to supply glucose and fat for milk production. Pathologic overproduction of prolactin, hyperprolactinemia, is a condition primarily associated with reproductive disorders; however, the metabolic impact of elevated prolactin indicates that these parameters might be considered in clinical management of the condition. 4. 4. Urinary Clara cell protein and alpha 1-microglobulin – biomarkers of changes in kidney and airway function

    Författare :Lena Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :biomarker; Clara cell 16 kDa protein CC16 ; alpha 1-microglobulin A1M ; ambient air pollution; renal function; pyelonephritis; children;

    Sammanfattning : Validated biomarkers are useful tools for screening large populations. The benefit of screening may be improved risk assessment or early indications of adverse effects before detection or onset of symptoms. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Disruption of vitamin A metabolism by dioxin

    Författare :Pi Högberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TCDD; dioxin; vitamin A; retinoic acid; cellular retinol-binding protein; bone;

    Sammanfattning : Vitamin A (retinoids) is a nutrient that plays a central role in development and remains essential for cell growth and differentiation throughout life. Dioxins are polychlorinated organic pollutants known to negatively affect the storage and body clearance of retinoids. LÄS MER
