11. Atherogenic lipoproteins and their interaction with proteoglycans
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a multi-factorial disease and its pathogenesis is still unclear. However, accumulating evidence during recent years has led to the concept that subendothelial retention of atherogenic lipoproteins is the initiating event in atherogenesis. LÄS MER
12. Growth rate control of periplasmic product retention in Escherichia coli
Sammanfattning : The recombinant product is secreted to the periplasm in many processes where E. coli is used as host. One drawback with secretion is the undesired leakage of the periplasmic products to the medium. The aim of this work was to find strategies to influence the periplasmic retention of recombinant products. LÄS MER
13. Reducing Stormwater Pollution - Performance of Retention Ponds and Street Sweeping
Sammanfattning : Stormwater, in this study defined as surface runoff in urban areas, is known to transport large quantities of toxic substances to receiving waters. Therefore different practices to treat stormwater have been proposed. In Sweden retention ponds have become a common treatment method during the past decade. LÄS MER
14. Optimizing processes for biological nitrogen removal in Nakivubo wetland, Uganda
Sammanfattning : The ability of Nakivubo wetland (which has performed tertiary water treatment for Kampala city for the past 40 years) to respond to pollution and to protect the water quality of Inner Murchison Bay of Lake Victoria was investigated. The aim of this study was to assess the capacity of Nakivubo wetland to remove nitrogen from the wastewater after its recent encroachment and modification, in order to optimize biological nitrogen removal processes using constructed wetland technology. 15. Investigations on the Oxidation of Iron-chromium and Iron-vanadium Molten Alloys
Sammanfattning : With the progress of high alloy steelmaking processes, it is essential to minimize the loss of valuable metals, like chromium and vanadium during the decarburization process, from both economic as well as environmental view points. One unique technique to realize this aim, used in the present work, is the decarburization of high alloy steel grades using oxygen with CO2 in order to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen. LÄS MER
