  1. 1. Health effects of air pollution in Iceland : respiratory health in volcanic environments

    Författare :Hanne Krage Carlsen; Anna Oudin; Thorarinn Gislason; Kadri Meister; Bertil Forsberg; Gunilla Wieslander; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Respiratory health; air pollution; volcanic ash; epidemiology; hydrogen sulfide.; Epidemiology; epidemiologi; folkhälsa; Public health;

    Sammanfattning : Air pollution has adverse effects on human health. The respiratory system is the most exposed and short-term changes in air pollution levels have been associated with worsening of asthma symptoms and increased rates of heart attacks and stroke. Air pollution in cities due to traffic is the major concern, as many people are exposed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Making visible the invisible : Health risks from environmental exposures among socially deprived populations of Nairobi, Kenya

    Sammanfattning : Background: Most countries of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are experiencing a high rate of urbanization accompanied with unplanned development resulting into sprawl of slums. The weather patterns and air pollution sources in most urban areas are changing with significant effects on health. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Social determinants in asthma : population-based studies on asthma and respiratory symptoms in relation to occupation, occupational exposure and socioeconomic status

    Sammanfattning : Background: Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are common obstructive airway diseases with a substantial burden in terms of morbidity, mortality and costs. Smoking is the single most important risk factor for COPD, and is associated with incident asthma. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exposure, health effects, immunological markers and biomarkers of susceptibility among Swedish rubber workers

    Författare :Lena S Jönsson; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
