  1. 1. Föreställningar om den urbana världen : Identitetsaspekter i svensk stadsbild med exemplet Helsingborg 1903-1955

    Författare :Henrik Widmark; Hedvig Brander Jonsson; Ola Wetterberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Art history; Architecture; City planning; Heritage; Preservation; Spatial practices; Visual practices; Representations of Space; Urban culture; History; Memory; Modernity; Dominant urban identity; City space; Public art; Konstvetenskap; Gregor Paulsson; Helsingborg;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the subject of dominant local identities and the construction of urban representations in Sweden 1903-1955, as articulated in the city Helsingborg. The main focus falls on architecture, city planning and visual practices as means of establishing an urban identity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Konstruktionen av framtidens stad : Arkitekttävlingar om bostäder och stadsdelar i Sverige 1989-2003

    Författare :Klas Ramberg; Birgitta Svensson; Mats Franzén; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; town planning; architecture; visions; representations; space; place; translation; assemblage; governmentality; quality; urbanity; Ethnology; etnologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to show what values affect visions expressed in architectural competitions about housing and town planning in Swedish cities between 1989 and 2003. Four questions have guided the study: the changes that take place in the competition process; the social and spatial components and relations future neighborhood are put together of; the qualities that architectural competitions take into account; and the kind of urbanity the competitions lead to if the proposals are realised. 3. 3. Explorations of University Physics in Abstract Contexts : From de Sitter Space to Learning Space

    Författare :Daniel Domert; Cedric Linder; Ulf Danielsson; Duncan Fraser; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; phenomenography; cosmology; de Sitter space; quantum mechanics; conceptual understanding; epistemology; physics equations; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : This is a thesis which contributes to research in two different fields: theoretical physics and physics education research. The common link between these two research areas is that both involve explorations of abstract physics and mathematical representations, but from different perspectives. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Appearance and photographs of people in flight : A qualitative study of photojournalistic practices in spaces of (forced) migration

    Författare :Rebecca Bengtsson Lundin; Miyase Christensen; Anna Roosvall; Myria Georgiou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Photojournalism studies; photography; critical visual analysis; watching photography; appearance; encounters; photojournalistic practices; space; forced migration; flight; journalistik; Journalism;

    Sammanfattning : This study explores photojournalistic practices by investigating how spaces of (forced) migration, as well as the people and objects moving in and across them, appeared in Swedish newspapers in 2015.Photographs are unique objects of study, as the presence of people in certain spaces becomes directly observable through them. 5. 5. Functional understanding of space : Representing spatial knowledge using concepts grounded in an agent's purpose

    Författare :Kristoffer Sjöö; Patric Jensfelt; David Vernon; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spatial representation; autonomous robots; spatial understanding; semantic mapping; spatial relations; visual search; robot search;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the role of function in representations of space by robots - that is, dealing directly and explicitly with those aspects of space and objects in space that serve some purpose for the robot. It is suggested that taking function into account helps increase the generality and robustness of solutions in an unpredictable and complex world, and the suggestion is affirmed by several instantiations of functionally conceived spatial models.
