  1. 21. Development of biocomposites from lactic acid thermoset resins and cellulose fibre reinforcements

    Författare :Fatimat Oluwatoyin Bakare; Minna Hakkarinen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lactic acid; thermoset resin; renewable resources; natural fibre; regenerated cellulose fibre; composite; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Synthesis of polymers from renewable origin has been reported by many authors and it has been found out that it has enormous potential and can serve as alternative to conventional thermoplastics and thermosets in many applications. The use of these renewable resources will provide sustainable platforms to substitute fossil fuel-based materials. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Freeze-Dried Wheat Gluten-Based Foams

    Författare :Thomas Blomfeldt; Mikael Hedenqvist; Delcour Jan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Foams; Wheat gluten; Glutenin; Gliadin; Renewable; Freeze-drying; Pore structure; Baceterial cellulose; Glycerol; Mechanical properties; Thermal conductivity; Combustion properties;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents wheat gluten foams as an alternative to the available commercialfoams. Polymeric foams, like all plastics, are mostly made from petroleum, and this isaffecting the environment negatively with the emission of greenhouse gases and generation oflandfills. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Complex adaptive systems; Renewable resources; Adaptive management; Small-scale fisheries; Artificial intelligence; Reinforcement learning; Agent-based modeling; agent-baserade modeller; artificiell intelligens; social-ekologiska system; komplexa adaptiva system; förnyelsebara naturresurser; adaptiv förvaltning; Sustainability Science; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling;

    Sammanfattning : As a consequence of global environmental change, sustainable management and governance of natural resources face critical challenges, such as dealing with non-linear dynamics, increased resource variability, and uncertainty. This thesis seeks to address some of these challenges by using simulation models. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Variation management for cost-efficient integration of variable renewable electricity

    Författare :Viktor Walter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flexibility measures; Energy storage; Energy system modelling; Renewable Energy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to improve our understanding of how wind power and solar photovoltaics (PV) can be integrated into the electricity system in a cost-efficient manner. For this, a techno-economic cost-minimising model of the electricity system is used for a set of case studies. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Polygeneration District Heating and Cooling Systems Based on Renewable Resources

    Författare :Natalia Kabalina; Mário Manuel Gonçalves Costa; Weihong Yang; Andrew Martin; Luis Barreiros Martins; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating and cooling systems; polygeneration; refuse derived fuel; municipal solid waste; gasification.; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional district heating (DH) and district heating and cooling (DHC) systems have to address two principal challenges: phase-out of fossil fuels in favor of renewables; and profit instability related to declines in heating and cooling demands along with electricity price fluctuations. These obstacles can be overcome at once through upgrading these systems to a polygeneration concept by means of a retrofitted air-steam gasifier and gas upgrading equipment, enabling the use of renewable feedstocks such as refuse derived fuel (RDF) and municipal solid waste (MSW).
