26. On the role of nitric oxide in bladder cancer and renal cell carcinoma
Sammanfattning : The role of nitric oxide (NO) in tumour biology is unclear. There are conflicting reports in the literature whether NO will promote or inhibit tumour growth. The aim of the present thesis was to investigate the role of NO in bladder cancer and renal cell carcinoma. LÄS MER
27. Differentiation of renal oncocytoma from renal cell carcinoma by means of ⁹⁹Tc-Sestamibi SPECT/CT
Sammanfattning : Purpose: An increasing body of literature indicates the beneficial role of [99m]Tc-Sestamibi SPECT/CT in the non-invasive differentiation of renal oncocytoma (RO) from renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This thesis presents a comprehensive approach of [99m]Tc-Sestamibi SPECT/CT examination following the implementation of quantitative tools in addition to visual assessment. LÄS MER
28. Tumor microenvironment derived biomarkers in renal cell cancer
Sammanfattning : Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the 13th most common malignancy worldwide, and constitutes around 2% of all malignant tumors. The entity renal cell carcinoma comprises a heterogenous group of malignant tumors that originates from the epithelial cells in the renal proximal tubule. LÄS MER
29. Molecular genetics of kidney cancer : chromosomal regions of importance in the development of renal cell carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignancy of the human kidney, occurring most commonly during the seventh and eighth decades of life. The incidence is high in the Nordic countries and the five year survival is 40-50%. Smoking is a risk factor inferring a minor increase in risk. The best established risk factor is obesity. LÄS MER
30. The clinical perspective on malignancies in renal transplanted patients
Sammanfattning : Post-transplant malignancies cause significant morbidity and mortality. In this thesis we investigated malignancies in renal transplanted patients from a clinical viewpoint. The use of regional tumour registries considerably improved identification of pre- and post-transplant malignancies, which are generally underreported in transplant registries. LÄS MER
