  1. 11. Polymeric Nanoparticles as Carriers for Antimicrobial Peptides : Factors Affecting Peptide and Membrane Interactions

    Författare :Randi Nordström; Martin Malmsten; Per Hansson; Helena Bysell; Erica Wanless; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antimicrobial peptide; microgel; degradable; nanogel; drug delivery; PEGylation; secondary structure; model membrane; lipid bilayer; neutron reflectometry; ellipsometry; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : As resistance towards conventional antibiotics is becoming more pronounced, cationic antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have received considerable attention as possible therapeutic alternatives. Thousands of potent AMPs occur in humans, animals, plants and fungi as a natural part of the immune system. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Key Data for the Reference and Relative Dosimetry of Radiotherapy and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Beams

    Författare :Hamza Benmakhlouf; Pedro Andreo; Klemens Zink; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Backscatter factors; Diagnostic radiology dosimetry; Mass energy-absorption coefficients; Monte Carlo; Output correction factors; Radiotherapy dosimetry; Reference dosimetry; Relative dosimetry; Small photon fields; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate dosimetry is a fundamental requirement for the safe and efficient use of radiation in medical applications. International Codes of Practice, such as IAEA TRS-398 (2000) for radiotherapy beams and IAEA TRS-457 (2007) for diagnostic radiology beams, provide the necessary formulation for reference and relative dosimetry and the data required for their implementation. 3. 13. Factors of importance for labor induction

    Författare :Tove Wallström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: What initiates the onset of labor is still not clarified, and it is debated whether expectant or active management is the best for the woman and the fetus. Active management means induction of labor (IOL) which is a very common obstetric intervention and is used in several situations. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors

    Författare :Ning Xu; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Triglycerides.; Prothrombin; Protein S; Protein C; Platelets; Phospholipids; Metabolism; Lipoproteins; Lipids; Endocytosis; Electron microscopy; Cytochemistry; Coronary heart disease; Blood coagulation factors; Arachidonic acid; Atherosclerosis; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Peptide-Liposome Model Systems for Triggered Release

    Författare :Camilla Skyttner; Daniel Aili; Karin Enander; Fredrik Höök; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Liposomes are widely used in drug delivery to improve drug efficacy and to reduce side effects. For liposome-encapsulated drugs to become bioavailable and provide a therapeutic effect they must be released, which typically is a slow process that primarily relies on passive diffusion, liposome rupture or endocytotic uptake.
