  1. 1. Pinpointing biomarkers of importance for children with combined type 1 diabetes and celiac disease

    Författare :Andrea Tompa; Maria Faresjö; Karin Åkesson; Mikael Karlsson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; celiac disease; children; biomarkers; immune markers; flow cytometry; cryopreservation; T cells; T-regulatory cells; B cells; B-regulatory cells; cytokines; chemokines; acute phase proteins; adipocytokines; matrix metalloproteinases;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease are both characterized by an autoimmune feature. The diseases also share the same risk genes, and thereby patients have an increased risk of developing the other disease subsequently. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulatory Factors that Reveal Three Distinct Adipocytes : The Brown, the White and the Brite

    Författare :Tomas B. Waldén; Jan Nedergaard; Stephen R. Farmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipocyte; UCP1; brite; brown; white; Hox Zic; miRNA; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Adipose tissues have long been considered to derive from a common origin. Even the functionally different brown and white adipose tissues were generalized to share a common origin. Brown adipose tissue is a highly innervated and vascularised tissue containing multilocular and multimitochondrial brown adipocytes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulatory Immune Responses and Repair Mechanisms in Atherosclerosis

    Författare :Sara Rattik; Kardiovaskulär forskning - immunitet och ateroskleros; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atherosclerosis; Cardiovascular disease; T helper 2 cells; ApoB100; Regulatory B cells; Regulatory T cells; Smooth muscle cells; IL-22.;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the formation of lipid rich plaques in the arterial wall. Rupture of a plaque results in clinical manifestations such myocardial infarction or stroke. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulatory properties of dendritic cells and B cells in adaptive immunity

    Författare :Bengt Johansson Lindbom; Adaptivt immunförsvar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Immunology; Cellular differentiation; Cytokines; Dendritic cells; B lymphocytes; T lymphocytes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based upon four original papers in which human dendritic cells (DCs) and B cells have been analyzed in terms of how they influence the character of adaptive immune responses. DCs isolated from human tonsils were found to possess a capacity to directly regulate proliferation, isotype switching, and antibody production in B cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. T Regulatory Cells – Friends or Foes?

    Författare :Camilla Lindqvist; Angelica Loskog; Thomas Tötterman; Vivianne Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Treg; T regulatory cell; FoxP3; CD25; CLL; B-cell lymphoma; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : T regulatory cells (Tregs) have been extensively studied in patients with cancer or autoimmunity. These cells hamper the immune system’s ability to clear tumor cells in cancer patients. In autoimmune diseases, on the other hand, they are not able to restrain autoreactive immune responses. LÄS MER
