  1. 1. Regulation of insulin-like growth factor-II in human liver

    Författare :Henrik von Horn; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IG17-II; IGF2; IGFBPs; liver; hepatoblastoma; GH; hypoxia;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factors-I and -II (IGF-I and -II) are mitogens in a number of cell types and also have insulin-like actions. IGF-II has an autocrine role in a variety of malignancies; and hypoglycemia is well documented in conditions associated with elevated IGF-II precursor forms in the circulation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular studies of the insulin-like growth factor system in the brain : focus on growth, tumorigenesis and trauma

    Författare :Ann-Christin Sandberg Nordqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :insulin-like growth factors; insulin-like growth factor binding proteins; brain; mRNA; meningioma; glioma; traumatic brain injury; in situ hybridization; Northern blothybridization;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) 1 and -2 are synthesized by most tissues of the body and function as autocrine or paracrine agents in a tissue-specific manner. mRNA for IGF-1 and -2, as well as the IGF-binding proteins, are synthesized locally in various regions of the brain. 3. 3. Human insulin-like growth factor binding protein-4 and -6 : gene structure and transcription regulation

    Författare :Henric Zazzi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF binding proteins IGFBP ; DNA sequencing; chromosomal localization; gene expression; Sp I; NF-kappa-B; methylation;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factors (IGF-I and IGF-II) are among the more abundant growth factors isolated from bone tissue and are synthesized by various bone cells including osteoblasts. The activity of IGFs is controlled by a family of binding proteins (IGFBPs) divided into subfamilies depending on their individual affinity for IGFs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Identification of novel growth hormone-regulated factors

    Författare :Björn Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Growth hormone; idiopathic short stature; growth hormone deficient; prepubertal; children; genomic; proteomic;

    Sammanfattning : The studies described in this thesis aimed to identify novel factors involved in the regulation of longitudinal growth and bone mineralization in response to growth hormone (GH) treatment. This was done by performing a single factor study (Paper I) where it was found that growth response was negatively correlated with adiponectin levels during the first year of GH treatment in short prepubertal children. 5. 5. Transcriptional Regulation of HIF2A/EPAS1 in Neuroblastoma

    Författare :Arash Hamidian; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIF-2α; enChIP; ESRRA; mTORC2; IGF-II; Hypoxia; Cancer; PI3K; Transcription; Neuroblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumor of the developing sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in children before one year of age. Although survival curves have improved for these patients during the past decades, the conventional regimen of neuroblastoma treatment has clearly reached a plateau of efficiency with regard to increasing the survival rates of high-risk children.
