1. Hydrological Modeling for Climate Change Impact Assessment : Transferring Large-Scale Information from Global Climate Models to the Catchment Scale
Sammanfattning : A changing climate can severely perturb regional hydrology and thereby affect human societies and life in general. To assess and simulate such potential hydrological climate change impacts, hydrological models require reliable meteorological variables for current and future climate conditions. LÄS MER
2. On the Late Saalian glaciation : A climate modeling study
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the glaciation of the Late Saalian period (160 -140 ka) over Eurasia. The Quaternary Environment of the Eurasian North (QUEEN) project determined that during this period, the Eurasian ice sheet was substantially larger than during the entire Weichselian cycle and especially that of the Last Glacial Maximum (21 ka, LGM). 3. Kilometer-scale climate modeling of precipitation in the Nordic region
Sammanfattning : Future changes in precipitation, in particular extremes, are among the most impact-relevant consequences of a warming climate driven by increases in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Still, climate model projections of future changes in regional and local precipitation remain uncertain. LÄS MER
4. Climate Related Impacts on a Lake : From Physics to Biology
Sammanfattning : Climatic variation and change affect the dynamics of organisms and ecosystem processes. This thesis examines phytoplankton as a target variable to trace climatic impacts on Lake Erken (Sweden) with special emphasis on the spring bloom. LÄS MER
5. Learning by modeling energy systems
Sammanfattning : Meeting the 2°C climate target would likely require reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the global energy system to virtually zero within 50-100 years, and within 30-50 years for the 1.5°C target. LÄS MER
