  1. 1. Study and empirical modelling of recrystallisation annealing of martensitic chromium steel strip by means of EBSD

    Författare :Sorin Ionescu-Gabor; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :EBSD; Etching; Metallography; Cold Rolling; Recrystallisation annealing;

    Sammanfattning : Recrystallisation annealing, a repeated heat treatment between different stages of cold rolling of martensitic chromium steel strip, is successful when neither high rolling forces nor wear of the working rolls occur during the subsequent cold rolling. Mechanical properties as tensile strength, yield, elongation or hardness have been, by tradition, the criteria that described the quality of the annealing process. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Friction stir welding of copper canisters for nuclear waste

    Författare :Therese Källgren; Rolf Sandström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Friction Stir Welding FSW ; Copper; Welding; Finite Element Method FEM ; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The Swedish model for final disposal of nuclear fuel waste is based on copper canisters as a corrosion barrier with an inner pressure holding insert of cast iron. One of the methods to seal the copper canister is to use the Friction Stir Welding (FSW), a method invented by The Welding Institute (TWI). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Geochronology of impact structures - constraining syn- and post-impact processes using the 40Ar/39Ar and U-Pb techniques

    Författare :Maria Herrmann; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Impact structure; Dating impact events; 40Ar 39Ar dating; U-Pb dating; Siljan impact structure; Mien impact structure; Hummeln impact structure; Puchezh-Katunki impact structure;

    Sammanfattning : The discovery, at the beginning of the 20th century, that elements can transform into other elements, due to the spontaneous decay of an instable to a stable atomic nuclei, gave rise to a powerful source for age information in many fields of earth science. For impact structures, it is crucial to establish well-defined and precise ages in order to understand how impact events affect the Earth’s geo and biosphere and also with regard to possible future events that can have devastating effects on our civilization.
