  1. 6. Investigating the function of the Receptor Tyrosine Kinase ALK during Drosophila melanogaster development

    Författare :Christina Lorén; Mike Taylor; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :DAlk; receptor tyrosine kinase; Jeb; visceral muscle fusion; ERK; Drosophila; endoderm; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Drosophila melanogaster gene Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (DAlk) is homologous to mammalian Alk, which is a member of the Alk/Ltk family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). In humans the t(2;5) translocation involving the Alk locus encodes an active form of Alk that is the causative agent in Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Morris et al., 1994). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Understanding molecular mechanisms of protein tyrosine kinases by molecular dynamics and free energy calculations

    Författare :Yaozong Li; Kwangho Nam; Magnus Wolf-Watz; Amedeo Caflisch; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinase; IRK; IGF-1RK; phosphorylation; activation loop; molecular dynamics; phosphoryl transfer; alchemical free energy; dynamical network; correlation map; PCA; motion projection; Gaussian softcore; free energy landscape; kinase catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Insulin receptor kinase (IRK) and Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor kinase (IGF-1RK) are two important members in the large class of tyrosine kinase receptors. They play pivotalroles in the regulation of glucose homeostasis, cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, andtransformation. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases as Regulators of Receptor Ryrosine Kinases

    Författare :Camilla Persson; Arne Östman; Niels Peter Moller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; protein tyrosine phosphatase; tyrosine kinase; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Tyrosine phosphorylation is a crucial mechanism in cellular signaling and regulates proliferation, differentiation, migration and adhesion. The phosphorylation reaction is reversible and is governed by two families of enzymes: protein tyrosine kinases and protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Exploiting Drosophila as a model system for studying anaplastic lymphoma kinase in vivo

    Författare :Therese Eriksson; Ruth Palmer; Stefan Thor; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaplastic lymphoma kinase; Receptor tyrosine kinase; Jeb; neuroblastoma; actin polymerization; Wasp; Scar; Vrp1; Arp2 3; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) and an oncogene associated with several human diseases, but its normal function in humans and other vertebrates is unclear. Drosophila melanogaster has an ALK homolog, demonstrating that the RTK has been conserved throughout evolution. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Soluble Form of the Axl Receptor Tyrosine Kinase

    Författare :Carl Ekman; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The present investigation focus on the receptor Axl, which is a member of the receptor tyrosine kinase family. Axl is activated by the ligand Gas6 inducing cell growth and proliferation, but also regulate inflammation and vascular homeostasis. LÄS MER
