  1. 1. DIGITAL ANALYSIS OF CARDIAC ACOUSTIC SIGNALS IN CHILDREN

    Författare :Milad El-Segaier; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatri; Medicin människa och djur ; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Pediatrics; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Heart sound detection; Logistic regression; Receiver operating characteristic curve; Signal deconvolution.; Short-time Fourier transform; Cardiac acoustic signals; Time interval measurements;

    Sammanfattning : DIGITAL ANALYSIS OF CARDIAC ACOUSTIC SIGNALS IN CHILDREN Milad El-Segaier, MD Division of Paediatric Cardiology, Department of Paediatrics, Lund University Hospital, Lund, Sweden SUMMARY Despite tremendous development in cardiac imaging, use of the stethoscope and cardiac auscultation remains the primary diagnostic tool in evaluation of cardiac pathology. With the advent of miniaturized and powerful technology for data acquisition, display and digital signal processing, the possibilities for detecting cardiac pathology by signal analysis have increased. 2. 2. Ultrasound prediction of large fetuses. Epidemiological and clinical investigations

    Författare :Gun Lindell; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Two-dimensional ultrasound; three-dimensional ultrasound; fetus; intrauterine growth; maternal characteristic; large-for-gestational age; antenatal calculation; Bayesian theorem; fetal weight; estimation; post-term fetus; fetal macrosomia;

    Sammanfattning : The proportions of newborns with a birth weight (BW) >4,000 g and of macrosomic newborns (BW >4,500 g) have increased during the last two decades, parallel with an increasing maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and age at the time for pregnancy. Delivery of a large fetus, especially >4,500 g might cause perinatal complications for both the mother and her child. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Clinical studies of biomarkers in suicide prediction

    Författare :Jussi Jokinen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Suicide; suicide attempt; HPA axis; dexamethasone suppression test DST ; serum cortisol; Receiver Operating Characteristic ROC ; serotonin; CSF 5-HIAA; depression; prediction; suicide intent; hopelessness;

    Sammanfattning : Suicide is a major clinical problem in psychiatry and suicidal behaviours can be seen as a nosological entity per se. Predicting suicide is difficult due to its low base-rate and the limited specificity of clinical predictors. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Personality disorder and violent criminality : a follow-up study with special reference to psychopathy and risk assessment

    Författare :Martin Grann; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Forensic psychiatry; forensic psychology; personality disorders; psychopathy; PCL-R; HCR-20; VRAG; risk assessment; receiver operating characteristic analysis; neural network;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Structured models for the assessment of psychopathy and risk of violent recidivism have gained currency in forensic and correctional practice in many countries. The overall aim of this study was to test the predictive validity of some of these models among violent offenders with personality disorders in Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mental illness and criminal behavior : individual characteristics related to criminal conduct among violent offenders with schizophrenia

    Författare :Anders Tengström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Criminality; Forensic psychiatry; HCR-20; Psychopathy; PCL; Risk assessment; Schizophrenia; Substance abuse; Violent crime; VRAG;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades, interest has increased in structured risk assessment of future violence as well as in research addressing the link between schizophrenia and violence. The overall aim of this study was to extend our knowledge concerning risk assessment and the connection between schizophrenia and criminal behavior. LÄS MER
