    Sammanfattning : A large minority of children with enuresis do not respond to treatment with either desmopressin or the enuresis alarm. Anticholinergics have not proven as successful as expected. The fourth evidence-based treatment of enuresis, the tricyclic antidepressant imipramine, is cardiotoxic when overdosed, which has led to diminished use. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The atypical antipsychotic drug (APD) clozapine is the most efficacious APD in treatment-resistant schizophrenia including negative symptoms and cognitive impairment, and still lacks extrapyramidal side effects (EPS). Clozapine, which also possesses an antidepressant effect and can be used as monotherapy in bipolar disorder, has a broad receptor binding profile with higher affinity for the α2-adrenoceptor and several serotonergic receptors than D2 receptor, enhances dopamine output in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and facilitates glutamatergic NMDA receptor-mediated transmission in pyramidal cells in the same brain region.     Sammanfattning : Since its identification in raphe neurons of the central nervous system (CNS), the biogenic amine serotonin (5- hydroxytryptamin, 5-HT) has been implicated in the etiology and pathophysiology of affective disorders, such as depression. It has been proposed that enhancement of central serotonergic transmission may underlie the therapeutic response to different types of antidepressant drugs. LÄS MER
