  1. 1. Stochastic Simulation of Reaction-Diffusion Processes

    Författare :Stefan Hellander; Per Lötstedt; Johan Elf; Koichi Takahashi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stochastic simulation; microscale; mesoscale; Smoluchowski s equation; hybrid methods; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Numerical simulation methods have become an important tool in the study of chemical reaction networks in living cells. Many systems can, with high accuracy, be modeled by deterministic ordinary differential equations, but other systems require a more detailed level of modeling. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Valorization of herring filleting co-products to silage - Control of protein hydrolysis and lipid oxidation during ensilaging and possibilities for separating herring silage into multiple products

    Författare :Mursalin Sajib; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; separation; silage; pilot-scale; lipid oxidation; Herring Clupea harengus ; protein hydrolysis; ensilaging; antioxidants; fish oil; valorization; by-products;

    Sammanfattning : Industrial processing of herring ( Clupea harengus ) into convenience products such as fillets generates around 60% co-products being rich in both protein and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). A promising cost-efficient strategy to valorize these raw materials into food and/or feed ingredients would be to apply ensilaging, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development and Assessment of Regeneration Methods for Commercial Automotive Three-Way Catalysts

    Författare :Henrik Birgersson; Magali Boutonnet; Jim A. Andersson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automotive catalyst; TWC; aging; sintering; Pd Rh; Pt Rh; regeneration; oxy-chlorination; dispersion; acid-leaching; mathematical modeling; reaction kinetics; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 4. 4. Advancing DNA-based proximity methods

    Författare :Mattias Leino; Ola Söderberg; John Löfblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in situ; proximity dependent intiation of hybridization chain reaction; hybridization chain reaction; Oligonucleotide design; proximity ligation assay; protein interaction; microscopy; purification; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular functions are governed by intricate chains of interactions between proteins. In order to properly understand cellular biology one must look into, not only protein function, but also its interacting network. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Probing Catalytic Reaction Mechanisms of Biomimetic Diiron Complexes through Time-resolved Absorption Spectroscopy

    Författare :Shihuai Wang; Leif Hammarström; Reiner Lomoth; Jillian Dempsey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Artificial photosynthesis; Biomimetic catalysts; H2 formation; Catalytic intermediates;

    Sammanfattning : Directed design of improved molecular catalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions relies on rational benchmarking based on a detailed understanding about the mechanism of catalysis. Specifically, investigation of multi-electron redox catalysis, with structural characterization of catalytic intermediates, combined with the kinetics of their transformations, can reveal the rate-limiting step of the overall reaction, possible degradation pathways and the function of structural motives.
