1. Filtering and reconstruction in image processing
Sammanfattning : Image processing is a broad field posing a wide range of problems. The Work presented in this dissertation is mainly concerned with filter design subject to different criteria and constraints. The first part describes the development of a new radiographic reconstruction method designated Ectomography. 2. Optimization of paediatric CT examinations - An approach to minimize absorbed dose to patients with regard to image quality and observer variability
Sammanfattning : The absorbed dose to paediatric patients is important bearing in mind the increased risk of radiation-induced cancer due to exposure to X-rays at young ages. Questions have also been raised of whether a CT examination of the paediatric brain might lead to a reduction in cognitive function. LÄS MER
3. Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders of Arthrogeneous Origin. Controlled double-blind studies of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a stabilisation appliance
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to prospectively evaluate the short-term effect of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (diclofenac sodium, Voltaren) and stabilisation appliance in controlled trials of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) of arthrogeneous origin. The active treatments were compared to placebo in the study of diclofenac and to a control appliance in the other study. LÄS MER
4. Optimisation of radiographic imaging by means of factorial experiments
Sammanfattning : In the optimisation process of radiographic imaging, factorial designed experiments can be applied. The parameters (factors) are varied together instead of one at a time, making it possible to discover interactions between the factors as well as main influences of them on the result variable. 5. Clinical and experimental studies of bone substitutes and dental implants in compromised bone sites
Sammanfattning : Background: With an ageing population, an increase of more challenging implant treatments is expected. In this thesis, we evaluate the outcome of two faster implant protocols, in patients with compromised alveolar bone. LÄS MER
