  1. 1. Cerebral blood flow and intracranial pulsatility studied with MRI : measurement, physiological and pathophysiological aspects

    Författare :Anders Wåhlin; Anders Eklund; Jan Malm; Richard Birgander; William G Bradley; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arterial Pulsatility; cerebrospinal fluid; cerebral blood flow; venous flow; intracranial pressure; pulse pressure; dementia; hippocampus; multiple sclerosis; magnetic resonance imaging; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : During each cardiac cycle pulsatile arterial blood inflates the vascular bed of the brain, forcing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and venous blood out of the cranium. Excessive arterial pulsatility may be part of a harmful mechanism causing cognitive decline among elderly. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiation Induced Precipitation in Reactor Pressure Vessel Steel Welds

    Författare :Kristina Lindgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; precipitation; irradiation damage; low alloy steel; reactor pressure vessel; atom probe tomography;

    Sammanfattning : Radiation induced clustering and precipitation affect the mechanical properties of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) of a nuclear power plant, i.e. the material becomes embritteled. The combination of low Cu (0. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment for pelvic radiation-induced injuries. From a multicenter randomized controlled trial to an experimental cell model

    Författare :Nicklas Oscarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyperbaric oxygen treatment; hyperbaric oxygen; late radiation-induced injury; cystitis; proctitis; reactive oxygen species; radiation therapy; quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Cancer is affecting a growing number of persons. Still, the treatment and survival of cancer is improving. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of cancer. Late radiation-induced injuries afflict 5–15% of irradiated patients. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Laser Diagnostics in Combustion - Elastic Scattering and Picosecond Laser-Induced Fluorescence

    Författare :Frederik Ossler; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spray; Picosecond laser; Streak camera; Time resolved; Fluorescence lifetimes; 3 – D flow imaging; 2 - D lifetime imaging; Pressure; Temperature; Hydrogen atoms; Oxygen atoms; 3-pentanone; Acetone; Lorenz-Mie theory; Aerosol; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Ossler; Scattering; Fysik; Physics; Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.;

    Sammanfattning : Elastic scattering and the Lorenz-Mie (LM) theory in particular is used for the characterization of sub-micron- and micron-sized droplets of organic fuels in sprays and aerosols. Calculations on the Lorenz- Mie theory show that backward-sideward scattered visible radiation can be used for unambiguous detection of ensembles of homogeneous droplets of organic substances with diameters around 1 micrometer (size parameter between 2 and 6). 5. 5. The Jovian Plasma Dynamics and Composition Analyzer (JDC) for ESA's JUICE Mission

    Författare :Philipp Wittmann; Martin Wieser; Stas Barabash; Krister Wiklund; Frédéric Allegrini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; JUICE mission; positive ions; negative ions; electrons; time-of-flight; time-of-arrival; PEP; JDC; CEM; channel electron multiplier; pressure; instrument development; calibration; TOF; TOA; fysik; Physics; rymd- och plasmafysik; Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation covers the development and calibration of the Jovian plasma Dynamics and Composition analyzer (JDC). JDC is together with five other sensors a part of the Particle Environment Package (PEP), one of the payloads of the European Space Agency's JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) mission. LÄS MER
