1. Ribosome and ribosomal RNA Structure : An experimental and computational analysis of expansion segments in eukaryotic ribosomal RNA
Sammanfattning : Ribosomes are large ribonucleoprotein complexes which incorporate amino acids into peptide chains during translational process in all types of living cells. The eukaryotic ribosome is larger compared to its prokaryotic counterpart. LÄS MER
2. A Study in RNA Bioinformatics : Identification, Prediction and Analysis
Sammanfattning : Research in the last few decades has revealed the great capacity of the RNA molecule. RNA, which previously was assumed to play a main role only as an intermediate in the translation of genes to proteins, is today known to play many important roles in the cell in addition to that as a messenger RNA and transfer RNA, including the ability to catalyze reactions and gene regulations at various levels. 3. Lead(II) as a Tool for Probing RNA Structure in vivo
Sammanfattning : Chemical modification and limited enzymatic hydrolysis are powerful methods to obtain detailed information on the structure and dynamics of RNAs in solution. In the work presented here I have taken advantage of the properties of the divalent metal ion lead(II) to establish it as a new probe for investigating the structure of RNA in vivo. LÄS MER
4. Structure and Dynamics of the Hepatitis B Virus Encapsidation Signal Revealed by NMR Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the study of the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) encapsidation signal, epsilon, by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mutational data. HBV replicates by reverse transcription of an RNA pregenome into the viral DNA genome, which becomes enclosed in viral particles (encapsidation). LÄS MER
5. Computational identification of RNA and protein components from the Signal Recognition Particle
Sammanfattning : Problem. The signal recognition particle (SRP) is a ribonucleoprotein particle that targets proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes, to the plasma membrane in Archaea and Bacteria and to the thylakoid membrane in chloroplasts of photosynthetic organisms. It has one RNA component and 1 6 proteins. LÄS MER
