  1. 1. RNA-mediated gene expression regulation

    Författare :Paula Petronela Groza; Francesca Aguilo; Yuri B. Schwartz; Silvia Remeseiro; Henrik Nielsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA modifications; fibrillarin; 2 -O-methylation; translation; alternative splicing; METTL3; m6A; ZFP207; breast cancer; mouse ESCs; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The regulation of gene expression is a key mechanism that underlies all biological processes, from embryonic development to the onset and progression of various diseases, including cancer. A growing body of evidence places RNA molecules at the center of critical regulatory steps in gene expression. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Non-protein-coding RNA : Transcription and regulation of ribosomal RNA

    Författare :Stefanie Böhm; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Brian McStay; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ribosomal RNA; non-coding RNA; ribosomal genes; rDNA gene; B-WICH; chromatin remodelling; histone modification; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cell growth and proliferation are processes in the cell that must be tightly regulated. Transcription of ribosomal RNA and ribosomal biogenesis are directly linked to cell growth and proliferation, since the ribosomal RNA encodes for the majority of transcription in a cell and ribosomal biogenesis influences directly the number of proteins that are synthesized. 3. 3. Versatile and Antique World of RNA : The Simplicity of RNA Mediated Catalysis

    Författare :Ema Kikovska; Leif Kirsebom; Venkat Gopalan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Microbiology; RNA Catalysis; RNase P; Metal ions; tRNA Processing; Ribozyme; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : RNA is the only biological molecule that can function both as a repository of information and as a catalyst. This, together with the ability to self-replicate, led to recognition of RNA as ‘prelude to life’.My work highlights some of the important features of RNA as a catalyst, exemplified by RNase P. 4. 4. NMR studies of DNA/RNA-binding proteins

    Författare :Helena Berglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the structure and internal dynamics inDNA and RNA-binding proteins. While it has long been known thata proper three-dimensional structure is essential for aprotein's ability to interact with other biomolecules, theinfluence of the inherent protein dynamics is less wellunderstood. 5. 5. Chromosome-specific adaptations of RNA stability and the roles of the roX RNAs in dosage compensation

    Författare :Marie-Line Faucillion; Jan Larsson; Jean-Yves Roignant; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila melanogaster; dosage compensation; buffering; RNA stability; RNA decay; RNA half-life; RNA-seq; genome-wide; sex chromosomes; evolution; roX1; roX2; POF; MSL; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Sex chromosomes evolved from an ancient pair of autosomes and the Y chromosome lost most of its genetic information in the process. This created two kinds of genomic imbalances: the first one between males (XY) and females (XX) and the second one between the sex chromosomes and the autosomes (X:AA). LÄS MER
