  1. 1. Cellular Origin and Development of Glioma

    Författare :Nanna Lindberg; Lene Uhrbom; Bengt Westermark; Kristian Pietras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; brain tumor; PDGF; RCAS TV-A; cell of origin; glial cell; oligodendrocyte progenitor cell; DNA repair; homology-directed repair; RAD51; angiogenesis; histidine-rich glycoprotein; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; Molecular Medicine; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ;

    Sammanfattning : Gliomas are the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system believed to arise from glial cells. Invasive growth and inherent propensity for malignant progression make gliomas incurable despite extensive treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. DNA repair by HDR in experimental tumorigenesis

    Författare :Ulrica Westermark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to further understand how defects in the homology-directed repair (HDR) pathway affect tumor formation and development. To study proteins involved in HDR is challenging since most of its members are required for cell viability. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interplay Between Cell of Origin and Oncogenic Activation in Glioma

    Författare :Yiwen Jiang; Lene Uhrbom; Anders Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; PDGF; cell of origin; Sox5; glioma initiating cells; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioma is the most frequent primary tumor of the central nervous system. By using the RCAS/tv-a mouse glioma model, we have studied mechanisms controlling glioma development and the effect of cell of origin on these processes.SOX5 was identified as a brain tumor locus in a retroviral insertional mutagenesis screen of PDGF-B induced mouse gliomas. 4. 4. Modeling glioblastoma heterogeneity to decipher its biology

    Författare :Yuan Xie; Lene Uhrbom; Massimo Squatrito; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma multiforme; biobank; GBM cells; cell of origin; LGR5; OPCs;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and lethal form of primary brain tumor that mainly affects adults. GBM displays remarkable intra- and inter-tumoral heterogeneity and contains a subpopulation of cells named glioma stem cells that is believed to be responsible for tumor maintenance, progression and recurrence. 5. 5. Identification and investigations of leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains protein 2 (LRIG2)

    Författare :Camilla Holmlund; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Monica Nistér; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LRIG; PDGF; oligodendroglioma; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) constitute a family of proteins controlling cell growth and proliferation and whose activities are tightly controlled in normal cells. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of RTK signaling and is a proposed tumor suppressor. The aim of this thesis was to identify and study possible paralogs of LRIG1. LÄS MER
