1. The Archival Life of Home Movies : Regional Reflections and Negotiated Visions of a Shared Past
Sammanfattning : This study investigates the ways in which private home movies are transformed into curated archival objects. Through the concept of the archival home movie, it explores the impact of preservation and content description on access, use, and, thus, regional historiography. LÄS MER
2. Fungal communities of West African ectomycorrhizal woodlands
Sammanfattning : Ectomycorrhizal symbiosis is a widespread mutualist relationship between fungi and plants, often trees. It is most well-known in temperate and boreal forests, but also occurs in a variety of tropical ecosystems, including Sudanian savanna woodlands and gallery forests in West Africa. LÄS MER
3. Dual control concepts for linear dynamical systems
Sammanfattning : We study simultaneous learning and control of linear dynamical systems. In such a setting, control policies are derived with respect to two objectives: i) to control the system as well as possible, given the current knowledge of system dynamics (exploitation), and ii) to gather as much information as possible about the unknown system that can improve control (exploration). 4. Topics in Computational Algebraic Geometry and Deformation Quantization
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts, a first part on computations in algebraic geometry, and a second part on deformation quantization. More specifically, it is a collection of four papers. In the papers I, II and III, we present algorithms and an implementation for the computation of degrees of characteristic classes in algebraic geometry. LÄS MER
5. Architecture and circuit design of photon counting readout for X-ray imaging sensors
Sammanfattning : Hybrid pixel array detectors for X-ray imaging are based on different technologies for sensor and readout electronics. The readout electronics are based on standard CMOS technologies that are experiencing continuously rapid improvements by means of down-scaling the feature sizes, which in turn lead to higher transistor densities, lower power consumption, and faster circuits.
