1. Two-Barrier Problems in Applied Probability: Algorithms and Analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers (A-E). In Paper A, we study transient properties of the queue length process in various queueing settings. We focus on computing the mean and the Laplace transform of the time required for the queue length starting at $x0. We define the loss rate due to the reflection. LÄS MER
2. Performance Analysis and Optimization via Simulation
Sammanfattning : A large amount of scientific work has been carried out to enhance the methods used for design and control of technical systems. For many of these systems, the main objective is to utilize the limited resources in an optimal way. Different simulation techniques have, in many cases, been successfully applied to the analysis. 3. Age of Information Aware Communication Systems : Modeling and Performance Analysis
Sammanfattning : Advances in wireless communications and networking technology have taken us towards a pervasively connected world in which a vast array of wireless devices, from mobile phones to environmental sensors, seamlessly communicate with each other. In many of these systems the freshness of the transmitted information is of high importance. LÄS MER
4. Window-based congestion control : Modeling, analysis and design
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a model for the ACK-clock inner loop, common to virtually all Internet congestion control protocols, and analyzes the stability properties of this inner loop, as well as the stability and fairness properties of several window update mechanisms built on top of the ACK-clock. Aided by the model for the inner-loop, two new congestion control mechanisms are constructed, for wired and wireless networks. LÄS MER
5. Analysis of Lateral Transshipments in Inventory Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on two scientific papers. In these papers we study how one can approximate the inventory level of probabilities and the transshipment rates for inventory systems that apply lateral transshipment policies. LÄS MER
