16. Short-Pulse Photofragmentation and Fluorescence-based Diagnostics - Development and Applications
Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis covers the use of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PFLIF) with short laser pulses to determine species concentrations in different combustion environments. To attain quantitative species concentrations using LIF investigations of the influence of collisional quenching on the fluorescence signal strength is of vital importance, which can be done by measuring the fluorescence lifetime. 17. Optical properties of point defects in insulators and of transition metal dichalcogenides
Sammanfattning : There is a need for new or modified materials, both to improve current devices and to create novel functionalities. Engineering materials to target specific functionalities requires a better understanding of how microscopic processes impact materials properties. LÄS MER
18. Wall Related Lean Premixed Combustion Modeled with Complex Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Increased knowledge into the physics and chemistrycontrolling emissions from flame-surface interactions shouldhelp in the design of combustion engines featuring improvedfuel economy and reduced emissions. The overall aim of this work has been to obtain afundamental understanding of wall-related, premixed combustionusing numerical modeling with detailed chemical kinetics. LÄS MER
19. The interaction of hydrogen with metallic glass
Sammanfattning : Combining theoretical ab initio calculations with high-purity thin film sample synthesis and in situ measurements is a compelling way to bridge the gap in our understanding concerning hydrogen in metallic glasses, which is the primary work of this dissertation thesis. The main emphasis has been on how hydrogen affects the structure of metallic glasses, and how those changes influence not only the electronic properties of the amorphous metals but also their thermal stability. 20. Bruk av kalk och sand ur ett hantverkligt perspektiv
Sammanfattning : Sweden has a thousand-year history of burning (calcinating) and slaking (hydrating) limestone to produce a binder for mortar and stucco. We can assume that the conditions for manufacturing such binders have varied from one part of the country to another. LÄS MER
