  1. 6. Theoretical quantum optics with giant atoms

    Författare :Ariadna Soro Álvarez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; continuous waveguides; master equation; artificial atoms; structured waveguides; Quantum optics; waveguide quantum electrodynamics; resolvent formalism; SLH formalism; giant atoms; open quantum systems;

    Sammanfattning : Giant atoms have emerged as new paradigm in quantum optics during the last decade. These are quantum emitters that couple to light—or other bosonic fields—at multiple discrete points, which can be spaced wavelengths apart. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Quantum Optics and Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics in Superconducting Circuits

    Författare :Emely Wiegand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum Optics; Circuit Quantum Electrodynamics; Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics; Superconducting Qubits; Artificial Atoms;

    Sammanfattning : Waveguide circuit quantum electrodynamics (waveguide circuit QED) studies light-matter interaction with superconducting circuits in one dimension. In circuit QED, natural atoms are replaced by superconducting qubits consisting of a non-linear Josephson junction, resulting in an anharmonic energy spectrum just like real atoms. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Machine learning for quantum information and computing

    Författare :Shahnawaz Ahmed; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum machine learning; quantum process tomography; quantum information; Machine learning; generative neural networks; variational quantum algorithms; quantum state tomography; optimization; quantum computing; Bayesian estimation;

    Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis explores the merger of machine learning, quantum information, and computing. Inspired by the successes of neural networks and gradient-based learning, the thesis explores how such ideas can be adapted to tackle complex problems that arise during the modeling and control of quantum systems, such as quantum tomography with noisy data or optimizing quantum operations, by incorporating physics-based constraints. 4. 9. Majorana Representation in Quantum Optics : SU(2) Interferometry and Uncertainty Relations

    Författare :Saroosh Shabbir; Gunnar Björk; Maria Chekhova; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Majorana representation; Quantum optics; interferometry; SU 2 group; angular momentum; arbitrary optical gates; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The algebra of SU(2) is ubiquitous in physics, applicable both to the atomic spin states and the polarisation states of light. The method developed by Majorana and Schwinger to represent pure, symmetric spin-states of arbitrary value as a product of spin-1/2 states is a powerful tool that allows for a great conceptual and practical simplification. 5. 10. Measurement Back-Action and Photon Detection in Microwave Quantum Optics

    Författare :Anton Frisk Kockum; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Parity Measurement; Quantum Measurement; Quantum Optics; Quantum Stochastic Calculus; Circuit QED; Photodetection; Transmon; Dephasing;

    Sammanfattning : In quantum optics, the interaction between atoms and photons is studied. In recent years, microwave quantum optics with superconducting circuits has emerged as an important tool for fundamental quantum optics experiments, and also as a promising way for implementing quantum computation.
