11. Electronic and Vibrational Coherence in Photosynthetic and Model Systems
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast optical response and excitation energy dynamics in light harvesting pigment-protein complexes and in a few model systems have been studied both experimentally and theoretically. Femtosecond light pulses were employed to excite the system and monitor the subsequent time evolution of the transient absorption kinetics and anisotropy. LÄS MER
12. Entanglement and Quantum Computation from a Geometric and Topological Perspective
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate geometric and topological structures in the context of entanglement and quantum computation.A parallel transport condition is introduced in the context of Franson interferometry based on the maximization of two-particle coincidence intensity. LÄS MER
13. Transport Studies of Local-Gate Defined Quantum Dots in Nanowires
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on electrical transport in semiconductor InAs nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy. Initially, transport length scales of homogeneous InAs n-type nanowires are characterized by low-temperature magnetoconductance measurements. The measurements show phase-coherent conductivity corrections. LÄS MER
14. Read-out of superconducting qubits - a quantum measurement process
Sammanfattning : In this work we consider measurements on quantum systems emphasizingon read-out of superconducting qubits. The qubit is always coupled to anenvironment, containing a macroscopic number of degrees of freedom. Thisperturbs the qubit and destroys the phase coherence of the quantum state. LÄS MER
15. Sub-Cycle Control of Strong-Field Processes on the Attosecond Timescale
Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis deals with the sub-cycle nature of ultrafast phenomena that occur in strong-field light–matter interactions. As it is of interest to control these phenomena, we must understand them in order to manipulate them. The tools at our disposal are intense laser pulses of short duration, and the systems we study are atoms. LÄS MER
