  1. 21. Quantum Computing for Airline Planning and Operations

    Författare :Marika Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum technology;

    Sammanfattning : Classical algorithms and mathematical optimization techniques have been used extensively by airlines to optimize their profit and ensure that regulations are followed. In this thesis, we explore which role quantum algorithms can have for airlines. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Read-out of superconducting qubits - a quantum measurement process

    Författare :Lars Tornberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; superconducting qubits; single Cooper Pair box; quantum measurements; quantum electrical circuits; quatum computing;

    Sammanfattning : In this work we consider measurements on quantum systems emphasizingon read-out of superconducting qubits. The qubit is always coupled to anenvironment, containing a macroscopic number of degrees of freedom. Thisperturbs the qubit and destroys the phase coherence of the quantum state. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Measurement Back-Action and Photon Detection in Microwave Quantum Optics

    Författare :Anton Frisk Kockum; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Parity Measurement; Quantum Measurement; Quantum Optics; Quantum Stochastic Calculus; Circuit QED; Photodetection; Transmon; Dephasing;

    Sammanfattning : In quantum optics, the interaction between atoms and photons is studied. In recent years, microwave quantum optics with superconducting circuits has emerged as an important tool for fundamental quantum optics experiments, and also as a promising way for implementing quantum computation. 4. 24. Light-Matter Interaction and Quantum Computing in Rare-Earth-Ion-Doped Crystals

    Författare :Adam Kinos; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rare-Earth-Ion-Doped Crystals; Quantum Computing; Light-Matter Interaction; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Kinos;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, crystals of yttrium orthosilicate (Y2SiO5) that are randomly doped with another rare-earth element, such as praseodymium (Pr), europium (Eu), or cerium (Ce), are investigated with lasers locked to ultra-stable cavities using the Pound-Drever-Hall locking technique. Many of these rare-earth elements have long-lived 4f-4f transitions, hundreds of microseconds to a few milliseconds, with even longer ground hyperfine lifetimes of up to several days. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Controllable coupling of superconducting qubits and implementation of quantum gate protocols

    Författare :Margareta Wallquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Controllable Qubit-Coupling; Single Cooper-Pair Box; Josephson Effect; Quantum Gate; Superconducting Circuit; Quantum Computer; Qubit; Quantum Electrical Circuit;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of a quantum computer was invented in the beginning of the 1980s as a quantum generalization of the reversible classical computer. After discoveries in the middle of the 1990s of quantum algorithms, which wouldsolve some problems considered intractable for classical computers, the field of quantum computing has developed rapidly.
