  1. 1. Quantitative Bioanalysis : Liquid separations coupled to targeted mass spectrometric measurements of bioactive compounds

    Författare :Björn Arvidsson; Jonas Bergquist; Magnus Wetterhall; Gérard Hopfgartner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Method development; Enhanced microdialysis; Column switching; Liquid chromatography; Capillary electrophoresis; Electrospray ionization; Mass spectrometry; Triple quadrupole; Time-of-flight; Quantitation; Validation; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Performing quantitative analysis of targeted bioactive compounds in biological samples, such as blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid or extracts from pig liver, put high demands on the ruggedness of the method acquiring the results. In addition to the complexity of the sample matrix, the bioactive compounds targeted for analysis usually have low levels of natural abundance, further increasing the demand on the analytical method sensitivity. 2. 2. A Quantitative Rule System for Musical Performance

    Författare :Anders Friberg; Johan Sundberg; Giovanni Di Poli; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; music performance; expression; interpretation; rules; computer music; midi; jnd; time discrimination; locomotion; motion; listening experiment; perception; timing; phrasing; intonation; Speech and Music Communication; Tal- och musikkommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : A rule system is described that translates an input score file to a musical performance. The rules model different principles of interpretation used by real musicians, such as phrasing, punctuation, harmonic and melodic structure, micro timing, accents, intonation, and final ritard. 3. 3. Benefits of Non-Linear Mixed Effect Modeling and Optimal Design : Pre-Clinical and Clinical Study Applications

    Författare :Charles Ernest II; Andrew Hooker; Mats Karlsson; Bart Ploeger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacometrics; optimal design; nonlinear mixed effects models; population models; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the growing promise of pharmaceutical research, inferior experimentation or interpretation of data can inhibit breakthrough molecules from finding their way out of research institutions and reaching patients. This thesis provides evidence that better characterization of pre-clinical and clinical data can be accomplished using non-linear mixed effect modeling (NLMEM) and more effective experiments can be conducted using optimal design (OD). 4. 4. Clinical proteomics : quantitative analysis and biological interpretation

    Författare :AnnSofi Sandberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The main expectations of applying proteomics technologies to clinical questions are the discovery of disease related biomarkers. Despite technological advancement to increase proteome coverage and depth to meet these expectations the number of generated biomarkers for clinical use is small. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chemical exposure in the work place : mental models of workers and experts

    Författare :Anita Pettersson-Strömbäck; Bengt Järvholm; Steven Nordin; Bo Strangert; Marianne Törner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :self-assessment of exposure; predictions; expert judgment; risk; interpretation; time series analysis; MAPE; benzene; monoterpenes; styrene; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Many workers are daily exposed to chemical risks in their work place that has to be assessed and controlled. Due to exposure variability, repeated and random measurements should be conducted for valid estimates of the average exposure. LÄS MER
