11. Controllable Multi-dimensional Filters and Models in Low-Level Computer Vision
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns robust estimation of low-level features for use in computer vision systems. The presentation consists of two parts. The first part deals with controllable filters and models. A basis filter set is introduced which supports a computationally efficient synthesis of filters in arbitrary orientations. LÄS MER
12. On computational homogenization of transient poromechanics problems
Sammanfattning : Many engineering materials are, in fact, microscopically heterogeneous. This is true fornatural materials, such as timber and clay, as well as manmade materials, like metal alloysand concrete. LÄS MER
13. Computational Homogenization of Transient Problems - Application to Porous Media
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the development and analysis of a homogenization-basedcomputational strategy for simulating the transient and nonlinear coupled consolidationproblem in micro-heterogeneous porous media. A variational framework and the pertinentfinite element (FE) strategy, based on a generalized macro-homogeneity condition, are proposed for the spatial homogenization of a class of transient problems, wherebythe classical assumption of first order homogenization is adopted. 14. Computational methods for microfluidics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with computational methods for fluid flows on the microscale, also known as microfluidics. This is motivated by current research in biological physics and miniaturization technology, where there is a need to understand complex flows involving microscale structures. Numerical simulations are an important tool for doing this. LÄS MER
15. Approximations of Integral Equations for WaveScattering
Sammanfattning : Wave scattering is the phenomenon in which a wave field interacts with physical objects. An incoming wave is scattered at the surface of the object and a scattered wave is produced. Common practical cases are acoustic, electromagnetic and elastic wave scattering. LÄS MER
