Sammanfattning : Based on an analysis of the roles of alterity and the Other in six Québécois novels published between 1989 and 2002, this study examines how the identity of these first-person narrators is formed through processes of dysphoria, migration and elaborations of mutual space in what will be called practices of Here. Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates some motifs in the fiction of Québec writer Anne Hébert (1916-2000), largely by exploring interesting affinities with notions in the philosophy of Luce Irigaray (1930-). The main focus is on the young female characters and their way to adulthood in three of Hébert’s books: her first novel, Les chambres de bois (LCB, 1958) and two of her later works, Aurélien, Clara, Mademoiselle et le Lieutenant anglais (AC, 1995) and Est-ce que je te derange ? 4. In Search of a Fulfilling Identity in a Modern World: Narratives of Indigenous Identities in Sweden and Canada
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the identity of individuals with parents from two different ethnic groups. The focus is on individuals in Sweden with one Saami parent and one Swedish (or other European) parent, and individuals in Canada with one Native (Indian or Inuit) parent and one Euro-Canadian parent. 5. Les fonctions de l'alternance codique dans les salles d'immersion française au Québec
Sammanfattning : The present study focusses on the code-switching by teachers and students to English - the L1 of the majority of the students - in six French immersion (L2) classrooms in Quebec, Canada. It is argued that code-switching is a dynamic notion which is given its status as such in interaction: different teachers have different ideas about what constitutes an L1 element in L2 interaction.
