  1. 1. Pharmacokinetic, efficacy and safety modeling of new treatments against drug-resistant tuberculosis

    Författare :Lénaïg Tanneau; Mats Karlsson; Elin Svensson; Italo Poggesi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; pharmacometrics; nonlinear mixed effect models; tuberculosis; drug-resistance; bedaquiline; delamanid; metabolite; drug-drug interactions; QTc interval; transaminases; time-to-positivity; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) is an ancient infectious disease that remains one of the greatest killers on the planet. Its eradication is impeded by the development of resistance to first-line treatment. Each year half a million patients are infected with drug-resistant (DR) TB. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Improving assessment of cardiovascular arrhythmic safety of new pharmacologic agents

    Författare :Lars Johannesen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Sammanfattning : Fourteen drugs have been removed from the market worldwide due to an increased risk of torsade de pointes (TdP), a potentially fatal ventricular arrhythmia. Almost all of the removed drugs that have been linked to an increased risk for TdP have been shown to block the human ether-à-go-go-related gene (hERG) potassium channel. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Microvascular Complications and Predictors for Mortality in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Foot Ulcers

    Författare :Katarina Fagher; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :Diabetic foot ulcer; Microvascular disease; mortality risk;

    Sammanfattning : A diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a common and serious complication of diabetes. It is today the leading cause of amputations and is associated with both increased morbidity and mortality. Individuals with DFU have 2.5 times higher mortality rates compared to patients with diabetes but without DFU, a risk that persists even after ulcer healing. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cardiovascular aspects on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease : with focus on ischemic ECG abnormalities, QT prolongation and arterial stiffness

    Författare :Ulf Nilsson; Anne Lindberg; Anders Blomberg; Bengt Johansson; Christine Brulin; Per Bakke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epidemiology; COPD; ischemic heart disease; cardiovascular disease; ECG; spirometry; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) is an under-diagnosed disease with a prevalence of approximately 10%, highly dependent on age and smoking habits. Comorbidities are common in COPD and of these, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the most common. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Applications of Vectorcardiography for Diagnosis and Risk Stratification in Subpopulations at Risk for Life-Threatening Arrhythmias

    Författare :Daniel Cortez; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vectorcardiography; atrial depolarization; ventricular depolarization repolarization;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Vectorcardiography, or 3-dimensional electrocardiography is a tool which can be used to identify subtle changes in the electrical forces of the heart, and which can be applied to atrial depolarization, ventricular depolarization and ventricular repolarization for prognostic and diagostic purposes. Methods: Kor’s regression-related and quasi orthogonal methods was used to derive vectorcardiographic parameters from the 12-lead electrocardiogram and applied to a cohort of cryptogenic stroke patients to assess atrial fibrillation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients to assess for ventricular arrhythmias, applied with right-precordial directed quasi orthogonal method to arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D) patients for diagnosis, and applied to ventricular repolarization only to patients with genotype-positive/phenotype-negative Long QT2 syndrome (KNCH2 mutation) to assess for cardiac events.
