  1. 1. Hydrodynamic modelling of microbial water quality in drinking water sources

    Författare :Ekaterina Sokolova; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; faecal contamination; QMRA; faecal indicators; pathogens; risk assessment; microbial source tracking; Bacteroidales; E. coli;

    Sammanfattning : The faecal contamination of water sources can cause waterborne disease outbreaks among drinking water consumers. To design drinking water treatment and minimise consumer health risks, knowledge on source water quality is needed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Assessing the health consequences of deficiencies in water distribution networks: a basis for future network management

    Författare :Victor Vinas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; QMRA; risk management; distribution network; microbial risk; epidemiological studies;

    Sammanfattning : Drinking water distribution networks are susceptible to incidents that may contaminate the drinking water being served to the population. Five major risks that can impact negatively the health of consumers have been identified by a literature study: intrusion, cross-connections and backflows, unhygienic repairs or maintenance works, inadequate management of storage reservoirs and biofilms. 3. 3. Evaluation of microbial health risks associated with the reuse of source-separated humna urine

    Författare :Caroline Höglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :urine-separation; urine; wastewater systems; wastewater reuse; recycling; enteric pathogens; faecal sterols; indicator bacteria; hygiene risks; microbial persistence; microbial risk assessment; QMRA; fertiliser; crop;

    Sammanfattning : Human excreta contain plant nutrients and have the potentialto be used as a fertiliser in agriculture. Urine contributesthe major proportion of the nutrients (N, P and K) in domesticwastewater whereas faeces contribute a smaller amount andinvolves greater health risks if reused due to the possiblepresence of enteric pathogens. 4. 4. Microbial Risks in Surface Water Sources

    Författare :Johan Åström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface water; Bifidobacteria; Microbial source tracking; Cryptosporidium.; QMRA; Flow-weighted sampling; Pathogens; Bacteroidales; Stochastic modelling; qPCR;

    Sammanfattning : Microbial risks need to be properly handled for the provision of healthy drinking water. The mitigation of pathogens in the water source lowers the risk for infection associated with nominal and suboptimal drinking water treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Microbial risk assessment and its implications for risk management in urban water systems

    Författare :Therese Westrell; Thor-Axel Stenström; Nick Ashbolt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantitative microbial risk assessment; pathogens; urban; decentralised; failures; noroviruses; water consumption; HACCP; drinking water; wastewater; sludge; faeces; risk management; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : Infectious disease can be transmitted via various environmental pathways, many of which are incorporated into our water and wastewater systems. Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) can be a valuable tool in identifying hazard exposure pathways and estimating their associated health impacts. LÄS MER
