11. Cerebellar development and very preterm birth interactions with neonatal events
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe cerebellum is an important part of the brain and in very preterm infants the cerebellum is smaller at term equivalent age compared to that of infants born at term.Hypothesis and aims: The general hypothesis is that preterm birth per se causes cerebellar underdevelopment and that certain events following preterm birth, either complications or treatments, can aggravate the underdevelopment. 12. The central cervical nucleus in the rat : studies on connectivity, function and chemical transmission
Sammanfattning : The central cervical nucleus (CCN) is a spinocerebellar cell group in the upper cervical spinal cord (rat: Cl-C3), that is known to receive a powerful primary afferent input from, the upper cervical spinal nerves (C 1-C4), originating mainly from muscle spindle afferents in deep dorsal neck muscles and from the ipsi- and contralateral vestibular nuclei. It projects to the cerebellar vermis bilaterally and to all the vestibular nuclei contralaterally. LÄS MER
13. Distribution of glycosphingolipids in nervous tissue. Immunohistochemical and biochemical studies
Sammanfattning : Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) are highly enriched in cell membranes of the mammalian nervous system. Their biological functions are not clarified although recent findings have supported their existence in plasma membrane domains, enriched in cholesterol, sphingomyelin and GSLs. LÄS MER
14. Mechanism of Action of the Antiarrhythmic Agent AZD7009
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common tachyarrhythmia in the adult population and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. AF can be terminated and sinus rhythm restored by prolonging the action potential duration (APD) and the refractory period. LÄS MER
15. PDGF in cerebellar development and tumorigenesis
Sammanfattning : Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant cerebellar childhood tumor. As in many other brain tumors, expression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and its receptors has been shown in medulloblastoma. LÄS MER
