    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to: (1) explore factors associated with emotional distress; (2) investigate psychosocial stress as a risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) morbidity in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD); (3) investigate the impact of group-based stress management on psychological outcomes, and if that mediates risk of CV events; and (4) evaluate an internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) for emotional distress in patients with a recent myocardial infarction (MI).In Study I, data from the national registry SWEDEHEART on 27,267 MI patients < 75 years was used.     Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study patients with anxiety/depression symptoms before and after primary total knee replacement, particularly in terms of improvements in patients-reported outcomes, and particularly among those who were discontent with the surgery.     Sammanfattning : This thesis examines two aspects of social inequalities in health with three empirical studies that are based on the Swedish Level of Living survey (LNU): The relationship between accumulated occupational class positions during adulthood and health and the class-specific nature of gender differences in health. Previous research continuously finds that there are health differences by class and gender, but less is known about the extent to which accumulated class experiences in adulthood are related to health or how gender differences vary by class.
