11. Mended by masticates : A study of archaeogenetic proxies of migration, settlement and health in North Eurasian Mesolithic
Sammanfattning : A joint archaeogenetic perspective integrates diverse lines of evidence from archaeology and paleogenetics to advance our understanding of human prehistory. In this thesis I contribute to the corpus of archaeogenetic data by producing and analysing ancient genomic data from osseous and masticated material. LÄS MER
12. Long-term development of subalpine lakes : effects of nutrients, climate and hydrological variability as assessed by biological and geochemical sediment proxies
Sammanfattning : Sediment records of two Italian subalpine lakes (Lake Garda and Lake Ledro) were analyzed in order to reconstruct their ecological evolution over the past several hundred years. A multi-proxy and multi-site approach was applied in order to disentangle the effects of local anthropogenic forcings, such as nutrients, and climate impacts on the two lakes and their catchments. 14. High-resolution simulations of two cold palaeo climates in Europe : MIS 3 and LGM
Sammanfattning : The study of past climate is important because it increases our understanding of how the climate system works. Past climate is often reconstructed by using proxies (that is observations of things that tell something about past climate, for example tree rings, pollen in lake sediments and fossils). LÄS MER
15. Palaeoenvironmental changes in the northern boreal zone of Finland: local versus regional drivers
Sammanfattning : Multiple proxies derived from the Lake Loitsana sediment sequence (NE Finland) are employed to determine the timing of deglaciation, characterise an early Holocene proglacial lake stage and reconstruct Holocene lake development. Local-scale processes causing shifts in biological assemblages are identified and the most likely Holocene mean July air temperature (Tjul) development is assessed. LÄS MER
