  1. 11. Membrane protein proteomics - Novel method for membrane protein identification and quantification

    Författare :Maria Bentz; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biokemisk teknik; mebran; steroider; Lipider; membranes; steroids; Lipids; enzymologi; Proteiner; Membrane proteins; Proteomics; Proteinase K; N-terminal labelling; Relative Quantitation; Database search; Cancer; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; enzymology; Proteins; Biochemical technology;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are fairly refractory to digestion especially by trypsin. Less specific proteases like elastase and pepsin are much more effective. However database searching using non-tryptic peptides is much less effective due to the lack of charge localisation at the N- and C-termini and the absence of sequence specificity. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Influence of cisplatin on RNA structure in solution Escherichia coli tRNA(Ala) and human Wnt-5a 3' UTR model system studies

    Författare :Pal Papsai; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biokemi; metabolism; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; tRNA.; siRNA; probing RNA structure in solution; alanyl-tRNA synthetase; cisplatin;

    Sammanfattning : RNA molecules in the cellular environment have several important functions. In many cases, proper RNA function is intimately linked to proper three-dimensional structure of the molecule. Thus, it seems reasonable to assume that structural changes caused by external influence can strongly inhibit important cellular functions maintained by RNAs. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Theoretical Studies of Cytochrome P450

    Författare :Patrik Rydberg; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Theoretical chemistry; transition-state force field; peroxidase; theoretical chemistry; molecular dynamics; density functional theory; cytochrome P450; porphyrin; haem; heme; kvantkemi; Teoretisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The cytochromes P450 are a large enzyme family that is found in all living organisms and takes part in both endogenous and exogenous metabolism. They are primarily mono-oxygenases and perform a wide range of reactions. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The plant respiratory chain: Redox responses and catalytic definition of alternative pathways

    Författare :Daniela Geisler; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Kärlväxters fysiologi; Physiology of vascular plants; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; Växtbiokemi; Plant biochemistry; respiratory chain; plant mitochondria; nitrogen; NADPH dehydrogenase; NADH dehydrogenase; alternative oxidase; calcium; Proteiner; enzymologi; Bioenergetics; Bioenergetik; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Sammanfattning : The respiratory chain of plants contains both proton-pumping enzymes that conserve energy and non-proton-pumping alternative enzymes that bypass the sites of energy conservation. In addition to the proton-pumping complex I, plant mitochondria contain alternative type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenases, which allow oxidation of NADH and NADPH from the matrix and the cytosol. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The EGF-like Modules of Anticoagulant Protein S. Studies of Ca2+ binding and module interactions

    Författare :Yvonne Stenberg; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; calcium binding; Protein S; EGF-like module; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein S functions as a cofactor to activated protein C (APC) in the degradation of factors Va and VIIIa. In plasma protein S circulates in two forms; 30-40 % circulates as free protein S molecules while the remaining 60-70 % exists in a 1:1 complex with C4b-binding protein (C4BP). Only the free form of protein S functions as a cofactor to APC. LÄS MER
