  1. 6. ATP-Binding-Cassette Transporters in Biliary Efflux and Drug-Induced Liver Injury

    Författare :Jenny M. Pedersen; Per Artursson; Christel A. S. Bergström; Stefan Oswald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ABC transport protein; Pgp; P-glycoprotein; ABCB1; BCRP; breast cancer resistance protein; ABCG2; MRP2; multidrug resistance-associated protein 2; ABCC2; BSEP; bile salt export pump; ABCB11; sandwich cultured human hepatocytes; SCHH; drug-induced liver injury; DILI; multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane transport proteins are known to influence the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of drugs. At the onset of this thesis work, only a few structure-activity models, in general describing P-glycoprotein (Pgp/ABCB1) interactions, were developed using small datasets with little structural diversity. Sammanfattning : By cleaving peptide bonds, proteases either activate or degrade proteins and maintain protein quality control in response to various developmental stimuli and environmental factors. My work has focused on elucidating the role of the filamentation temperature sensitive protein H (FtsH) proteases. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Chemogenomics: Models of Protein-Ligand Interaction Space

    Författare :Helena Strömbergsson; Gerard J Kleywegt; Jarl E S Wikberg; Torgeir R Hvidsten; John Overington; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The large majority of the currently used drugs are small molecules that interact with proteins. Understanding protein-ligand recognition is thus central to drug discovery and design. Improved experimental techniques have resulted in an immense growth of drug target information. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The relation of allergy to otitis media with effusion : Clinical and histochemical studies

    Författare :David S. Hurst; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Allergy; eosinophil cationic protein; otitis media with effusion; skin testing; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Otitis media with effusion (OME) is the major form of chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the middle ear, constitutes the most common diagnosis for chldren under 15 years old and is the major cause of auditory dysfunction in pre-school children. The aim of these studies was to determine the role of allergy in the pathogenesis of middle ear effusion that persists longer than 2 months. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The middle ear : The inflammatory response in children with otitis media with effusion and the impact of atopy : clinical and histochemical studies

    Sammanfattning : Otitis media with effusion (OME) is the major form of chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the middle ear, constitutes the most common diagnosis for children under 15 years old and is the major cause of auditory dysfunction in pre-school children. OME is a disease more commonly found in allergic children. LÄS MER
