21. Incentives and Forest Reform: Evidence from China
Sammanfattning : Chapter I: Forest Devolution Reform in China: A Trigger for Investment or Deforestation? I investigate whether and how the devolution of forestland to households in China triggered investment in forestland, and its effect on forest resource conditions. The investment analysis is based on a panel dataset of a two-round survey of 3,000 households in eight provinces before and after the implementation of the forest devolution reform, while the analysis of resource conditions is based on satellite imagery on forest cover and vegetation during 2001-2012. 23. Essays on Behavioral Economics and Policies for Provision of Ecosystem Services
Sammanfattning : Forests provide key ecosystem services such as clean water, timber, habitat for fisheries, carbon sequestration, pollination, and biodiversity. However, many of these services are being lost or degraded at a furious pace, brought about by human activity. LÄS MER
24. Linking movement ecology with the management of mobile species : managing moose in Sweden
Sammanfattning : A central goal in conserving, or managing, biodiversity is to identify the spatial scale of management. Traditional approaches like protected areas aim to delineate boundaries, within which species are managed. These boundaries are set using, among others, species richness targets and political borders, but often fail to consider species movements. LÄS MER
25. Fragmented landscapes : Assessment and communication of landscape connectivity in human-dominated landscapes
